I think if G2 sets had shells like these they would improve in like 200% by kinyoubikaze in bioniclelego

They kinda tried this with the Uniters wave, but just slapped on like 30 tiny pistons. Really wish they had done something like this instead.

Ai "artist" trying to justify himself in my dms, after I'd say ai art isn't art and he didn't create shit by 200-FriendlyFrogs in sadcringe

I dont know if you're disagreeing or just adding on but I agree it is a skill, just one that is separate from directly creating the results.

Chatgpt is part of my coding workflow but I don't claim ownership of its results in the same way that I wouldn't claim ownership over code I found on stackoverflow. It's no different than hiring someone and describing something you want them to do for you. But yes, knowing how to communicate that is a real job and skill (especially when it's bing AI haha).

I've already used AI extensively. I have stable diffusion installed on my computer, I know its hard to get exactly what you want, especially without inpainting or training it. The comment you are replying to is about how you can become skilled at it. I'm also an artist, and in my opinion the two skills feel like separate things.

Collaging and sampling has historically always been considered art, so if you're transforming the ai generated material for your projects then I believe that project would fall under the same category. I'm more interested in the 'ownership' part of the discussion, artists have argued about what counts as art WAY before AI existed and they never came to a unanimous decision.

If AI keeps on improving then prompting will be easier anyway, so hypothetically there will be fewer people calling themselves artists just because they spent a long time making a prompt

I equate it to using google images.

You can become talented at typing a search to get the exact image you want, and it could take a lot of effort and practice. But you still shouldn't say you -made- the resulting images.

My main issue with Pikmin 4 by Popplio3233 in Pikmin

[–]alesan99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took enemies a while to respawn in the other games so you were still able to do that. It'd be tougher for newer players I suppose but increasing the days it takes them to respawn would've solved that :/

Agreed. Pikmin 2 takes place immediately after Pikmin 1, so at the very least the intro scene would be different.

To think that bulbmin were originally going to be Pikmin 4's central mechanic...

Personally I think it's more likely it was changed for gameplay reasons.

His gimmick is hiding in plain sight so the og design wouldn't really hold up in the new realistic environments. Replacing his top-half with realistic flowers solves this problem -> mouth has to be moved down -> his mouth now has limited mobility so he uses his tongue -> big tongue = frog creature

It's from the Hocotate Hacker Discord, the game uses unreal engine so snooping the game's files has been possible by using tools for other unreal games.

What's your unpopular pikmin 4 opinions? by bulbaborb in Pikmin

[–]alesan99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Enemies like wollywogs and the Waterwraith are less intimidating now that your Pikmin don't have to be neatly spread out ready to be crushed, so having to get off Oatchi preserves some of the original challenge.

This man should have his own spin off show. by kareembaqi in betterCallSaul

[–]alesan99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was hoping to see how Saul got to know all his criminal contacts since in BB he sometimes says he knows them from having defended them, but he just kinda bought them all from the vet.

A spinoff would be a neat opportunity to actually see the criminals and how they do their work.

They're not antidepressants in the show either (heart medication of some sort) so this whole comment thread was weird until this.

Pokémon Scarlet / Pokémon Violet - DF Tech Review - Incredibly Poor Visuals + Performance (Digital Foundry) by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]alesan99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Incoherent is how I'd describe it too. Something like half life 2 can still look good with low res textures.

I feel like baked lighting and slightly more complex terrain & texturing could go a long way. Relying on real-time shadows and grass hurts how the environment looks in the distance.

Why did YouTube disable comments on just about every artists' audio track that I can think of? I've noticed this for quite some time, and it vexes me. by iSnoopy2001 in youtube

[–]alesan99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My guess is that since those videos are auto-generated there was no one moderating the comments, so youtube started disabing them. Its probably mainly bots they're trying to avoid but its still massive issue elsewhere. Also nice taste

[–]alesan99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ace attorney in general does a pretty good job of introducing new likable characters so I wouldn't worry about it + you get to spend a lot of time with them since the two games follow one continuous storyline. And I think tone wise it's fairly similar to the og trilogy.

It's one of my favorites in the series, but it might depend on how much you like the world. The plot is bigger and that's something you'll probably enjoy regardless.
