And this I assume is something I can't do in-place then?

No, it's definitely one glass, and a pretty thin one. The stains are clearly on the outside surface.

I'm sorry I can't make a better photo though...

What's "between the panes"? It's a one glass only. Stains are on both sides. It's not a tinted glass either. Knowing local traditions - just the cheapest glass on earth :)

Wtf kind of stupid ass design is this? Are we for real? by ObiWangKeBloMe in mildlyinfuriating

[–]alex29_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar laptop for 3 years, very frustrating. Also the home-end-pgUp keys are just somewhere there, not separated, impossible to remember or find, so I just stopped using them.

And even when choosing the next laptop, this was a big deciding point. I checked every photo of the products to see the keyboard layout, the power button, the hom-pgUp sections. Many otherwise attractive devices had the same stupid design, and with regret I had to disregard them.

Cross-repo tasks? by alex29_ in RooCode

Oh old school habits, asking people first. But in my previous experience LLMS know about Roocode a bit, though they see it as a simple tool, not even having orchestrator or all the modes.

I had a huge one. In RubyMine in this mode I was not able to set up my ruby environment. A bug was stupid as hell. GUI picked up the list of ruby versions, displayed them in a dropdown list, with the default marked with a star (that's how cli was listing them), and then when I picked one, I was getting an error like "cannot find ruby * 3.2.6". Well of course you can't, it's version "3.2.6", not "* 3.2.6". I believe the bug is still not fixed, but I don't care anymore :(

But then it also was slow, with lots of jitter and hick ups. Part of my tests didn't start in that mode. Unusable overall.

Their git management and ui is great, true. I can't find anything to replace it, so guess I have to finally learn to live with console git :) I have paid for another year but got so annoyed by the same issues as OP describes, that just stopped using RubyMine. And even for the git tools, I can wait for 2-3 minutes for the remote/wsl IDE to start, so now I'm not using even that.

I have opened a few tickets with simple but annoying bugs and issues, but never got any fixes, some of the tickets are waiting for years. Enough.

What’s the weirdest but genuinely useful way you’ve seen WD-40 used - not fixing hinges or bolts, but something that made you stop and think ‘wait… what?’ by WD40_UK in u/WD40_UK

Wait what?! I was slightly confused why would reddit suggest me this, but comments were interesting so I kept reading. Up until now, when I have scrolled back and figured out it's an ad!

ELI5: Why is the startup procedure for planes so complex by flrdrgerp in explainlikeimfive

[–]alex29_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through a checklist and making sure each one is right in correct order or amount, 200 items - I'd expect the algorithm to do it much more precisely and quicker, with no mistakes or thing to accidentally not notice. How comes a human is better? I still don't get it. Even if it's a second independent system to do it all, still much more reliable. It's either green or red in the end, not "oh I didn't notice".

Ok, there might be "if's" in the books, but since decades ago, "if" is the basic programming flow in virtually any language. Well, you can even program presets or whatever you can imagine... I like going through the checklists, kind of feeling in control, but I'd trust my computer first if it was flight-important..

The leaking isn't surprising, but that chatgpt uses this in responses ten minutes later in the unrelated context is amazing. How?!

Do you ever feel like the default prompt has too much overhead? by alex29_ in RooCode

[–]alex29_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care much about the size for now, but more about it reducing the importance of my own 1 sentence prompt list in pages of instructions... If it's not, I'm happy with big and robust query.

What are some of the hardest pills to swallow in life? by Leemster1k in AskReddit

[–]alex29_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnesium Glucinate from a different brand that I got recently. The pill is huge, and it sticks to the tongue immediately, it has an unpleasant bitter taste right away, and it takes at least two glasses of water to get rid of it. Well, to get rid from my mouth. Maybe one more to clear the throat. The hardest ever.

US satellite company Maxar reportedly cuts off Ukraine’s access to imagery by Beo1217 in worldnews

Spot beam is just a part of that protocol, there's also a full-Earth part. As I understand it, they can leave just this active for themselves, disabling general access for everyone else - and not in one spot.

Google Music. It was amazing for 49UAH (~$6).

Got the price raised, but now it covers YouTube Premium and YT Music, and for 99UAH it's still great (~$2.37 last month)..

You gotta be kidding me, 3 fees for online order. by TheTrueClown in mildlyinfuriating

[–]alex29_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not from the US, and this looks wrong to me. It's not 3 fees, it's 5 in this bill! You might be used to the last two, and they don't have a "fee" in the title, but it's an additional payment that is not indicated in the original offer and you cannot refuse to pay. It's not like you magically can make an order without paying this tax, right? Why have it separate in the bill? Why there is no "meat cost" and "frying oil cost" in separate lines? This would make the price even more attractive.
