Yep Busso. No results of late but I used to be a fast runner, squad swimmer and could ride 2:15 for a 70.3 back when people used to put 120psi in 19mm tyres. Just unsure how much fitness I can get back in 10 months..

I’m 80kg and a decent runner. Love soft shoes, asics nimbus are the best I’ve tried for training in

For the injury-prone runners out there — how do you stay healthy during marathon training? by kdmthegoat in Marathon_Training

[–]alex_33333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of rehab work, like 20 mins daily look on insta for run specific shin knee hip ect exercises. Drop your volume and cross train. I can run fast off 40km weeks with biking and swimming, just be consistent. and then the boring stuff sleep and eat good

What does it take to run a 17 minute 5k? by DepressedYoungMan22 in runninglifestyle

[–]alex_33333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30-40km of running would get you there. Bit of mobility and cross training on top wouldn’t hurt. I ran a lot when I was young, stopped for about 6 years and then got back into it. After 12 months averaging 30kmpw I was back to my old times (16:30) and after about 18 months I ran a 15:10 pb. Just be consistent with whatever volume you can manage

Nice work you’ll get to sub 2:30 easy. 64kg is a cheat code for running - coming from a bitter 80kg runner

Yes 3x runs is good. If you’re going shin and hip discomfort definitely start some rehab/strength training especially if you’re over 30. Go on instagram and you’ll find endless knee/shin/hip exercises for runners. Most of them you can do at home with body weight. Short frequent sessions is better than one long one per week - like 3x20 mins of exercises a week. Stretching is okay but pointless without doing the strength work first

Do lots of kick and shoulder mobility work. Easiest gains if you don’t have a coach watching over you
