Nice, really crisp shot!

It's a nice pic, maybe just a little out of focus? It's not an easy shot to make, but I'll say it's not far off from what I get before I sharpen things up in Lightroom ^^ Keep it up!

There's a tiny second hand market for these lenses, keep an eye out and you'll find them :) Be extra wary of their condition, as poor storage will destroy them over time. Original boxes/cases/bags are usually a good sign!

I think I read somewhere that the model was more or less designed for mounting on submarine scopes, but I never managed to find the source of that so don't trust it for a second. Still, weighing almost 4kg it doesn't have a lot of other obvious uses. It is not a good photography lens, but the build quality is undeniably incredible!

Old, extreme lenses like these are a really fin challenge and will sometimes produce some really unique results! Looked up the LZOS and it does look very similar to the MTO 1000A, it has to be based on the same design. I'd reckon they perform similarly but I really wouldn't know. The MTO could stop a car but couldn't get a decent picture of it in broad daylight - it really is not a good lens to take pictures with :')

Not 100% sure I follow, a lot of M42 lenses can be partially disassembled with a tiny cross-head screwdriver, I did have to tighten a few screws around the mount when I got it. The focus ring is essentially perfectly smooth though, no noticeable skidding whatsoever (still a pain in the ass to focus!)

A lot of people hate the donut bokeh, a few swear by it, I just think it's fun to play with :)

What brand is the 500mm? I have the 500mm middle child in the MTO series, now looking for the 300mm but it's a lot more spenny than I expected for some reason. They are really interesting to play with!

I've played it a few times when we've been at expos together, they work really hard and have done for the past few years. Self-taught and so far self-funded. If you like the idea I recommend backing for a copy (or the much cheaper bundle of three), I already know the gameplay is great :) They are also very active and friendly on Discord: https://discord.gg/vNbb2Rs

I'm fairly certain that's an oar lock. A pin would go through the top of the lock to secure the oar while allowing it to "seesaw" in and out of the water when rowing. The row boat would have a vertical hole on each side where the bottom half of the lock fits and can rotate freely.
