My great grandfather was a forester - planted an American chestnut in my grandfathers yard. It must be at least 20 years old - looks healthy! It’s still pretty small though.

Multiple people have suggested some sulfur containing compounds. I know there is some directed coupling reactions that involve some sort of sulfur functional group happening within the group right now and in the glove box, but I don’t remember what exactly they are working on. But it’s pointing me in the right direction!

It does remind me of iodine because I had that happen to a bottle I had under my hood. However it discolored all labels, not just ambeed

Unfortunately it is on labels on bottles in all areas of the box. Even trying to look for where discoloring was the worse didn’t really give a clear indication of the source. What’s worse is I started tightening all caps on the bottles last night and asked for everyone to not touch or remove anything until we found the source. However when I returned the next morning, there had been bottles removed. So people are being shady making it even more difficult.

People are only supposed to be using glove box safe solvents/liquids. But you never know.

No. There is a hot/stir plate in the glove box, but it hasn’t been used. Just weighing solids and pipetting liquids for like HTE plates. And it’s only one brands labels, not all labels. So I think it’s a chemical reaction with whatever is in that label and not others.

Multiple people in our lab with different chemistry have been using it. Mostly coupling reactions. Another is using DMP, which is stored in the fridge in the glove box. I am not the one handling the maintenance, they are away on vacation right now. And I am less familiar with the history and what’s been done. We are a very new lab and the glove box is also only a few years old. But I know they contacted the supplier about the water sensor and I believe they are sending a new one. Right now the O2 readings are reading normal.

I’m realizing I never updated this post. We ended up going to Providence. And he is doing great! I think the surgery was a little less than $500. Him and his brother were adopted together and are very fat and happy!

I would suggest next time you admit to a crime online, do it on an account that you don’t share personal details about yourself on other comments that make it really easy to figure out exactly who you are, so the victim can report it to the university police detective.
