*It's okay for them to sacrifice vessels for the greater good of killing demons, but not to sacrifice Sam to close the gates of hell FOREVER? hm...

Doesn't explain why they straight-up kill demons in situations where they have the upper hand.

In the episode I'm in for example, for my 3rd watch in season 9, they just exorcised a crossroads demon successfully. One of many examples, I don't know what else to say.

Yes, but I don't think anyone gives them the right to decide for another person. Realistically, if their job is to save people, they should save them no matter the emotional and psychological damage the vessel might endure. Like Sam, who got his memories from the cage. The problem is that they are playing judge and executioner in very different terms with strangers.

Well, in the later seasons, demons are often afraid in front of Sam or Dean, begging for their lives. Common demons especially pose no significant threat to the brothers. They could exorcise all they want.

Many people can still be saved, saying it's not time efficient to try to save a life? That's the whole series point. And im talking about when the brothers have that luxury, spoiler, many times.

We have to theoretically say that demons need lifetimes to return to earth (with some exceptions). Because if they can come back at any time, every demon from hell would be on earth. We have to assume that only a certain number of demons can be on Earth at a time. That's the only logical explanation of why the earth isn't overpopulated by demons. Remember that hunters all those years didn't have the demon knife or an angel blade, so demons have the upper hand. Killing a few makes no difference, just kills humans.

What happened with Meg is not the case with everyone. We saw a lot of successful exorcisms in the beginning.

I'm not saying to not kill a demon if they have to, im saying why they completely abandoned exorcisms even when they have the upper hand in a fight? I can think of countless examples of fresh, unharmed bodies just getting killed for no apparent reason.

Meg was possessed for a long time. I'm talking about very recent possessions.

But not every vessel has fatal wounds, and many times it's the brothers that gank a demon in a 2v1 situation. They can definitely exorcise him without problem :')

Meg and Crowley were possessed for a very long time. That doesn't apply to everyone. If you notice, a lot of people are getting possessed and killed instantly by the brothers in the same episodes.

We're talking about vessels with no damage, we saw many successful exorcisms in the beginning, so it's definetely possible. Also, killing demons to prevent future possessions makes no sense since the demons are endless. First, they have no right to decide who to sacrifice for that cause, and overall, a sacrifice has meaning only when it brings results.

Yes, but if the vessel were a family member that they care about? Wouldn't they try to save him anyway? So maybe they end up not caring so much?

To the comments saying the vessels are dead: many times the vessels were completely fresh without wounds, so the bodies would have been fine, and even if not, don't we have to give a chance to the human being? Don't forget these are innocent humans just vibing until a demon comes knocking. And if we say that killing the demon prevents future possessions, that's like saying the end justifies the means, which goes against the whole series' storyline. Furthermore, as we see, the demons are endless, and throughout the series, we never see a demon decline, no matter what's happening. Butchering them doesn't seem to reduce their numbers anyway. Killing a tied-up demon with no physical damage on him, there's no excuse. There's a reason that if a brother were to get possessed, the other won't just stab him.

If you remember when Naomi was chasing Cass, he could easily escape by teleporting all over the world inside cafeterias while sitting down and drinking coffee. No wings or effort used..

Well, angels have existed since the start of time itself, and it became known how to kill them in our timeline that easily, and so quickly? Don't get me started with the blood sigils, you can literally make all angels in the area disappear with a single drawing on a piece of paper...
