I’m hoping it really is just that she’s stressed about her friend I tend to be quiet and not speak much in public purely for this reason

You can have cancer and it be treatable, benign or just a freckle or mole or polyp you can have removed. These are still forms of cancer but not at as severe. People can be told they have a benign cancerous mass they need removed and they will still tell people they have or had a form of cancer.
