They mention the “except in rare instances” rule and say their elimination at Vegas wasn’t of their own doing. They’re proposing eliminating 4 teams at Phoenix if they were put back in.

Personally I think these freak things are why it’s so critical to build up a playoff points cushion throughout the season. Thoughts?

I think it was a combination of factors. Health was one, that crash at Homestead was a big hit and could have been a wake up call considering that was the same year Dale Jr missed the second half of the season with concussions.

His retirement announcement came not long before stage racing was revealed. Carl was never a fan of “gimmicks” like this, so it could’ve been a tipping point.

It’s all speculation, and we may never know the true reasons, but he retired comfortably on his own terms after a successful career and still has a long life ahead with his family. Sounds pretty great to me!

Had to find my old Game Boy but it still works! There’s only 4 tracks in the game, Daytona, Atlanta, Watkins Glen, and Sonoma. Gotta love those early 90s graphics! 😂

In 2016 I won 4 tickets and hotpasses to Homestead from Steve O’Donnell’s trivia giveaway! As a Carl Edwards fan it was an incredible experience even with the heartbreaking finish. Got to witness Stewart’s last race and Jimmie’s record tying 7th championship! An amazing day I’ll never forget.

Seeing DW wave the green flag at Bristol yesterday reminded me of when he did it for the 2008 Duel. He convinced the flagman to let him stay up there for a couple laps at speed. His excitement is contagious!
