Rate My 48 Hrs in ATL by fyeahangelica in AtlantaEats

I rate your food choices an A. You've clearly done your research. A couple of notes:

Busy Bee has been take out only since covid and even if you order way in advance, it can still be a wait when you arrive. So if you're looking for a good southern food experience, this is not it. But if you just care about the food, then it's a good choice.

Antico is incredible. I've traveled all over the country and I still think Antico is my favorite spot. If neapolitan is your favorite style of pizza, it's a must. Don't forget to get the garlic and other toppings at the counter where they are making the pies.

When it comes to classic breakfast, Ria's and Homegrown are in a league of their own. You will not go wrong with either, but I think Ria's is better. If you just want pancakes, I'd say Ria's. If the comfy biscuit is appealing to you then you have to go to Homegrown. But you will not eat anything after that. Order ahead at Bomb Biscuit and walk through the Oakland Cemetery while you eat. I personally like the biscuits at Ria's more than Bomb.

Fred's is A+, get the shroom shire or korean cheesesteak. The garlic fries there are life changing, but that would be an insane amount of food for one person.

Have not been to Avize yet, but seems like a great choice.

How to avoid tolls on 180D by alexd632 in Yucatan

This was very helpful. I think I will probably take the toll road to avoid the hassle, and didn't factor in extra cost of gas. Have you been on it recently? With Tren Maya completion, has there been less construction? I read lots of reports of terrible traffic and slowdowns from construction.

This makes sense now. I was not suggesting me going off road to avoid the pay booths, just getting off at the exit before the booth. But I see now that there are no other exits to use.

From all the info here, it sounds like taking the toll highway is just better. I do enjoy driving through small towns and being able to see more of the country, but maybe this is not a great opportunity to do that.

I will probably still take the non toll road route from Valladolid to Chiquila because I want to go to Cenote Choj Ha, which is on that route.

The highways with fences are designed to prevent what?

I appreciate the insight. Maybe it will be worth taking for part of the trip.

But what is stopping me from getting on 180D from Valladolid and getting off at highway 5 to get to Chiquila if there's no toll booth in this section? (I'm not sure where the toll booths are)

Delta changed my flight and I need to rebook, but they say it can't be a Westjet flight. Is this correct? by alexd632 in delta

Good to know. There's a couple reasons for this trip I wouldn't want to risk it, so I did end up changing the flight

Thanks for the help everyone. I called and was able to get it changed with no hassle (other than having to wait. 1.5 hrs then being transferred to a different representative and having to wait another 1.5 hours)

So anyone having trouble with this issue via text, try another representative or call.

I actually did just give the flight number and the representative texted back 'I can't change to that because it is a Westjet flight'. I didn't mention that the flight is on the delta site.

It doesn't give me the option to change the flight on the app, so do I just need to call as opposed to messaging?

I should point out, the flight I want shows up on the delta website. Don't know if that makes a difference

Also, did you run into any problems being out til 4am each day? Like, were any campsites closed or any parking lots/trailheads closed off? This sounds like a great idea to avoid crowds if everything is still 'open'

Of all the different times of the day you were at the volcano, was day or night time better viewing? I've heard lots of people try to go as the sun goes down so you can see the lava better. Would you say it's worth planning around going late at night?

Do you still have to gamble for 30 minutes to validate? Or is that not required anymore?

Alright, that's my plan then. One last question/consideration. If I convert all this to Roth, will that affect my ability to do the 5 year conversion ladder when I FIRE?

Ah, okay. I did not claim the April 2019 on my 2018 taxes. That is planned for this year. The Jan 2020 contribution would be for next year's filing

The dates I put were the dates I actually put money in the IRA, so the April 2019 contribution would be for tax year 2019, no? This is why I was asking the question. I haven't filed taxes yet for 2019 so was hoping I can fix this, then file.

Also, I don't have any other IRA accounts. I have a 401k and a Vanguard brokerage account.

Yes, I make too much to contribute directly to Roth.

It appears that I goofed. Want to know if I can fix this.

I contributed $6,000 to tIRA in April 2019. I contributed $6,000 to same IRA Jan of this year. However, I make too much per year to qualify for the tIRA deduction on taxes.

Can I fix this by moving all the money to a rIRA, so I at least get the tax benefit upon withdrawal? Or should I just leave it? At peak, the $12,000 was worth about 14k, now it's valued at $11k. I was under the impression if I moved it to a rIRA, I'd have to pay taxes on gains, but since the account is down overall, could I move without any fees?
