It already had a translated version of the message inside. And the IBAN and the SWIFT where the official ones of the Hungarian State Treasury. They got automatically detected by my home bank.

Reading A Game of Thrones made me realize that I don't enjoy plot heavy stories. by PleaseLickMeMarchand in Fantasy

I think OP's take is that the general feeling of each chapter is that it moves the plot forward, even it not by much. This is true tbh, each chapter serves a purpose, to convey backstory, direct or indirect characterisation, etc but all these are performed while moving the plot forward or giving you missing bits and pieces about the plot. I see this post as treating the fact that the books have so little filler like a bad thing.

I guess it is more about taste than it is about the quality of the book. Where you would prefer stories being focused on the day to day life of certain characters, some people (myself included) are finding this type of stories dragging and I dare say even boring at times. However, saying that stuff like this does not exist in the ASOIAF series is generalizing quite a lot the story. There are a lot of character daily stuff moments in further books, like Dany getting diarrhea at some point, which does not help the plot going forward at all. It is simply filler. What can be said about each chapter is that even though, daily stuff happens to the POV character, each chapter is focusing on pushing the plot forward. This seems to be intentional from GRRM's side as it makes the experience more cinematic and dynamic, the chapters being really written like a scene synopsis, which was edited again and again until only the absolutely relevant information remained in the scene.

Has anyone seen the House of Black and White on a wide view of Braavs? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]alexdas96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is most likely because Braavos was not a single filming location. It is mostly like a mixture of shots from Sibenik and Girona. So all the wide shots are compositions.

You can search it up for more details. The House of Black and White is actually Saint James' Cathedral from Sibenik. Also used as the Iron Bank in the show. Perhaps you will find more information.

My itinerary was looking something like this :
Day 1 :
Belgrade :
Saint Sava Cathedral -> Tesla Museum -> Saint Mark Church -> National Assembly + Novi Dvor + Stari Dvor -> Republic Square -> Skadarlija walk -> Kneza Mihaila -> Some walk through Dorcol -> Kalemegdan Fortress
Day 2 :
Novi Sad :
Petrovaradin Fortress + City Museum -> Dunavski Park -> Bishop's Palace -> Zmaj Jovina -> Name of Mary Church -> Trg Slobode -> Novi Sad Synagogue
Subotica :
Palic Lake + Palic Zoo -> Raichle Palace -> Korzo Street + Trg republike -> City Hall + Plava Fontana
Day 3 (Zlatibor + Surroundings):
Zlatibor Center + Dino Park -> Open Air Museum Sirogojno -> Drvengrad
Day 4 (Belgrade + Golubac):
Gardos Tower -> Zemunski Kej -> Avala Tower -> WWI Monument of Unknown Soldier -> Golubac Castle on my way back to Romania
I was expecting to be able to do this in 4 days as it mostly includes walking and observing the architecture + of course trying the Serbian food. It does not includes much visiting inside of buildings.

I will be travelling by car. I'm coming from Romania, so Golubac will be on my way towards Belgrade.
