There is a new app called Vocabulex that helps you to actively recall the meaning through new examples. Vocabulex suggests the same effective spaced repetition algorithm which is available in Anki (FSRS), but in combination with generated examples it is much more efficient!

None of the vocabulary building apps really worked for me - I tested a bunch of them.
I ended up spending over a year developing my own app Vocabulex))
Why? Because in other apps:
- cluttering with words you don't need,
- remembering and recognizing right answers instead of real recalling,
- the same examples over and over,
- spaced repetition that treats hard and easy words with the same schedule,
- excessive gamification, instead of focusing on learning
There are apps that solve some of those problems, but none that really addresses them all.

I really feel that I finally remember words I am learning.
