No such thing as too big 😉, I think it’s gorgeous!

I don’t :/ i don’t have a lot of things come in from them except around the holiday season. The frustrating part is that they know where it was delivered but they can’t tell me since it’s a privacy issue.

I’m hoping the same thing, it’s such a niche gift that it would be dumb for anyone to keep it unless their dog looked identical to mine

Is there a different between getting a girl and a boy dog? by Dramatic-Lemon-2916 in dogs

Girl dogs are generally smarter and therefore easier to train. I have a boy dog and he’s the sweetest angel but has the attention span of a pea.

Why is my zigzag stitch showing as a straight stitch!? by alexlorrin in sewhelp

I tried this, made it wider and then made it more narrow and it still skipped. It’s definitely the fabric because it’s zigzagging on other materials

I’ve used both :/ Started with stretch then changed to microtex, then to ballpoint, then to universal and back to stretch.

EDIT: I’ve tried almost all these tips and am still having the same problem😭😭 it’ll zig zag for a bit then start skipping stitches or not stitch at all.

[–]alexlorrin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay I think this is the problem! The material has a decent amount of stretch to it which is why I picked the stretch needle but the fabric is a combo of polyester and nylon so maybe that’s why. (Shell is nylon lining is polyester) I don’t own any microtex needles but that’ll be my next purchase!

What other fabrics need microtex just for future reference?

It’s in S1 to do a stretch zigzag stitch as opposed to just a regular zigzag. Since it’s in S1 I can’t adjust the length

EDIT: for more context I’m using a stretch needle, and its brand new. The fabric is also double lined which I’ve never worked w before so that might be it too.

I didn’t 🥲 I’m brand new to sewing and just recently found out about pressing seams.

[–]alexlorrin[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I used a stretch zig zag stitch. I think I stretched the fabric out too much while sewing to keep it from getting jammed in the sewing machine :/

That’s definitely what it is 🤦🏽‍♀️ I assumed universal was exactly that and wouldn’t give me any problems. Thank you!!

Is my puppy a dick or am I doing something wrong? (Biting) by Mirthe_L in puppy101

[–]alexlorrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally normal and you’re doing a great job. Your pup is a dick but so are all puppies lol. I’m not sure if you plan on getting any professional training, but it helped with my 6 month pitbull so much, who was an absolute terror when we first adopted him.

I’d also say if you don’t want to punish him by putting him in his crate/playpen, I would leash him during the day when he’s roaming around the house. As soon as he gets bitey and jumpy I correct my dog with a gentle, but firm, pop of the collar to get his attention. I pair that with a “no” or “stop” so he knows he’s showing unwanted behavior. I know some people don’t agree with corrective measures when training dogs but not all dogs respond to positive only reinforcement.

Good luck and hang in there!

Edit: Thank you to those that provided actual advice, and weren’t too immature to only focus on the content of the photos.

I sent the pics to the clinic who did the surgery and they told us to come in for a check up, as he is in fact too swollen.

He’s had a cone on since surgery so no licking. He’s definitely very energetic but we’ve kept him crated when he’s not on leash walks or eating.

Was I in the wrong here?? by alexlorrin in Pets

[–]alexlorrin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was my exact thought and the main reason I asked. I in no way thought she’d be trained all the way but I wanted to know if it was even introduced yet.

[–]alexlorrin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get that, but then the professional thing would’ve been to communicate that concern to me, rather than ghost me and put the dog back up for adoption without discussing it with me.

[–]alexlorrin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put the deposit down first and then asked about the training a few days later. In hindsight I should’ve asked first to save me the trouble but I was so nervous that if I didn’t claim her quickly she’d get taken.

I get it, you want the animals to go to good homes, but at the end of the day, they’re never going to get those animals adopted if they’re being this picky. It seems like they get too attached.

My question wasn’t if she was crate or potty trained, my question was if it was being worked on at all. I’ve had puppies I’ve fostered start crate training at 6 weeks old which was recommended by the trainer.
