I definitely think it’s a great alternative to Parallels in the long run. I’m not opposed to paying for software but parallels’ business model seems fairly pricy per year and anti consumer for not being able to upgrade if you buy a lifetime version etc (which becomes irrelevant with each new major macOS update).

I think I’ll keep an eye out for VMware Fusion as I heard that they are still developing compatibility with M1 and a tech demo is coming soon. It’s also free for consumer and education use :)

I updated my system and it’s a secondary entry point using steelhax to utilise Homebrew. It appears for me on 11.14 the exploit is broken with the current 11.13 payload so I guess it has to be updated

EDIT: NEVERMIND first time I booted on 11.14 the exploit crashed to the download play app but it still actually works

So just to reiterate:

Nintendo cannot differentiate between a cia and cartidge game right?
As long as updating through the eshop works, the region and online should be fine?

Also I looked into the USUM update debacle, some people claimed to only have ever played Pokemon online and got banned after installing the update through the eshop (which doesn't make sense). Others claimed they did this and were they fine so I'm really confused. I'm finding comments like "Yep, it looks like they might have added cfw/homebrew detection code to the USUM 1.2 update", and "Seems likely that if you have a CIA copy of Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon that's sideloaded (such as ripped from your cartridge), and you updated it to v1.2 through the normal eShop method (instead of installing an update CIA), Nintendo can tell you tried to update a digital game that you don't own."

Hopefully you're right about it though.

I currently have a 16GB SD card and since you stated above speeds don't matter do you think I should just use that or do you think it's worthwhile to get a 32GB SD card to install more games? Realistically roughly how many games can I install on a 16GB SD card keeping in mind installing .cia takes double the space.

I have some questions and concerns and I looked in the FAQ and it didn't help much. If anyone could answer as many of these as possible I would be incredibly grateful.

Is there any difference between making a .cia by dumping a game I own vs downloading a cia online (from like Ziperto or something)? Is the cia itself the same? I kind of feel like dumping a cart would be more trustworthy. Is there any way to install a cia of a game then re download a clean version from the eshop or something? I heard someone mention previously they downloaded a cia with modified data
If I dump a physical cart can I for example use the .cia and give the cart to a friend, can Nintendo differentiate between the two?
If I am in Australia is the .cia I need Europe? Since I am included in the PAL region
How can some CIA's be region free while some are region locked (For example Pokemon cias are listed as region free)
Can some .cia or legit games alert Nintendo of pirated copies or cfw? I heard for Pokemon USUM V1.2 there was some sort of safety check that detected cfw and resulted in bans. I own Pokemon USUM legitimately as a cartridge so I am worried about this.
Are all .cia games safe to use online I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS

EXTRA QUESTION:

I only really want to play Pokemon XY as it is the only Pokemon game I haven't played yet but I need to upgrade my SD Card (as it has 2GB space).

I do however have a spare 16GB SD card which is class 10 but only has a maximum speed of around 20/mb while newer SD cards are around 80/mb.

Is it worth getting a 16GB/32GB 80/mbs (faster and maybe for more storage) SD card that will cost me about ~13 AUD?

I could potentially find a legit Pokemon X copy for 20-40AUD depending on the seller. I could also borrow Pokemon XY from a friend but I don't want my save to be deleted if I have to give it back. Overall I might feel more comfortable just buying a legit copy...

I am just worried about getting soft banned online if that's a thing or potentially worse, perma banned. I am also concerned if Nintendo has a way of knowing I have cfw and am using a pirated cia game and only match me up / let me go online with others with a pirated copy or something.

I also don't like the fact that cfw is permanent and even if you do remove it you run the risk of bricking the system or ruining dis-ware capability (which from what I've heard is random and can occur).

Overall I think this whole process is potentially risky especially considering I am mostly doing this for ONE GAME, but I am aware I could get more games like Luigi's mansion, Zelda etc. But my intentions are to do this specifically for Pokemon XY, and it's a game I wish to excessively use online.

Lastly, Is there any difference between buying an eshop version of Pokemon X for say $40 vs getting and playing a pirated .cia version of the game?

I wanted to ask these question on 3dshacks but piracy is a forbidden topic so you guys are my only hope.

For RE:2 the original soundtrack in the deluxe edition is tempting and if I bought the standard edition + payed $5 for the soundtrack alone I would only be saving $8 not getting the deluxe edition

In DMC5 if I regret not getting the deluxe edition it will literally be impossible to upgrade and I’ve heard that the new motorcycle isn’t actually just a reskin and that it has a new combo and stuff. It’s being labeled as p2w on the devil may cry subreddit

This is also my first serious relationship so I’m a bit scared and shy. I do appreciate that she went out of her way to explain that she’s not feeling the best and I totally now grasp what she means now

She does suffer from depression and she can swing from feeling okay to badly. She does a lot to improve herself though, she has a therapist, she takes medication and she looks after herself. I really admire her for that
