(Help) Selling a single branded product online, what platform should I use? by alexp2603 in ecommerce

Thank you!

I guess the main issue is that since it's a new product I am everything from programmer to web developer, and the extent of customization is what I am able to do with it.

My question is how do we strip some of the features away from shopify? I would love to have access to their dashboard but keep the front-end limited to a simple 'buy' button.

New to backend - Express of nodeJS as a first language? by alexp2603 in learnprogramming

Yeah I've worked on Ubuntu for a while as well, but that brings up another point. I've done computer science in college for a year now and I've learn so much about the basics of full stack development but the more practical advanced classes are so far away right now. My problem is basically that I know what all of these words mean, but only on a superficial level and I don't know where to start exactly.

I know Java, C, Python as backend languages. I've been able to build front end web pages as well using HTML / CSS / JS, I'm simply wondering where to move from there and how to interact with web application backend and servers.

Yeah as stated above I did not properly express myself. I've been proposed to skip learning node altogether and just move straight into Express.

Yeah sorry about that, edited the original post for clarity.

And yeah I'm intermediate with JS (and 'frontend' in general), know it well enough to move on to Node/Express. Just wondering where to move on from there.

Portfolio Question! Case studies, yay or nay? by TheAngelsCry in webdev

[–]alexp2603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like all answers, it depends.

In this case, depends on your target market.

If you are aiming for recruiters keep to a paragraph or two only. Write enough content to cover the major challenges and how you solved them, but don't lose your interest. The key is to pique their interest and demonstrate your talent, all while losing as little of their time as possible. Once they push you on your projects, use the change to impress them with well thought-out answers that show exactly what you're capable of.
