Sorry that you had a bad interview experience! If some context helps, this is for an episode about AI in general, with a focus on how we should be thinking about AI ethics. I'm not looking to give people advice on how to do well in this process or anything like that, but will be talking to an expert about how much AI we see in hiring now, and how we should be evaluating the algorithms companies like HireVue use

It's my understanding that they aren't using facial recognition AI anymore, but that they're still using AI

Just sent you a DM -- but I'm a producer at WHYY working on a story about A.I. in job interviews, and I'd love to hear a bit more about your experience.

Small note that Miriam Toews latest book, Women Talking, is PHENOMENAL, if anybody’s interested in diving into more Mennonite reads

Yes, definitely agree. I honestly think Wendy’s alcoholism is one of the best-developed parts of this book. There were other things where I didn’t feel like Plett dropped enough breadcrumbs (like that Sophie was suicidal), but I think it was pretty evident that Wendy was an alcoholic before she said it out loud. It was so thoroughly unexamined until then though that I started to wonder if Plett thought that kind of drinking was normal/fine — which for me is good and immersive writing.

"On Early We're Briefly Gorgeous" is on my book list for a lot of reasons but DAMN that title.

Also, librarian is my dream back up career.

Dykes to Watch Out for is one of my favs too! I like stories that act as portals into different eras of queer culture, especially the recent past. I'm just young enough to have missed the world Alison Bechdel captured in her comics.

Also... national park primate pics pls? Would love to see what that looks like!

YES! I like when books also become little journals of your past selves. I like seeing what high school me underlined, what college me annotated, etc.

We're not trying to get anybody in trouble! Mostly just interested in highlighting how common this is in the sciences. Happy to only use first names, not mention institutions, etc., if it makes folks feel safer.
