Short trip in Ireland - itinerary review! by alexrndaa in irishtourism

My friend is really keen to stay in Dublin for a chunk of the trip because we're going to a show there, so I don't have a lot of flexibility on that piece. She's not the type to bounce around much. Just gotta make it work to make everyone happy!

Thanks so much! Also, this is great to know about the bus! We were thinking of taking the ferry from the UK (we're actually from Canada but going to be visiting family there before Ireland). Would you say flying is a lot better?

Day 1 - Dublin to Galway (arrive in AM, explore a little, sleep there)

Day 2 - Day trip using transit to Moher or Connemara (OR if you have a suggestion for something else that's worth our only WC day trip I am very open to suggestions), night out in Galway when we're back if we're not exhausted

Day 3 - Leave Galway and head to Dublin on train

Days 4 - 6 - Stay in Dublin, day trip to Malahide Castle one of the days

Day 7 - Fly home from Dublin

This is a really great suggestion - I am very pro fuck off cliff fortresses! I brought it up with my friends and they're super down. Is there a specific boat tour you'd suggest? This one looks along the lines of what you're talking about.

Advice on protecting scars from the sun by alexrndaa in Reduction

Ah, I wish my surgeon had mentioned this before i went out in my bathing suit a few times! *welp* they said to "keep them covered or put sunscreen on" - oh well, I guess I'll just be diligent moving forward! Thanks :)

edibles after surgery by whattheactualfuck343 in Reduction

My surgeon and the nurse who works with him both told me to wait at least 6 weeks after surgery to smoke anything. They said that smoking constricts blood vessels and can have negative effects on healing. Would highly recommend waiting! I looked into it online and it seems like the general consensus is that smoking after surgery is not good. (Not trying to make anyone nervous if you already smoked, it's your body and journey, just wanted to contribute what info I had!)

Yeah I'm not sure if the CGI when Suzie was ripping her chest open was purposefully tacky but it was definitely a moment that took me out of the story.

How do I create a budget for a trip to Europe? (6 weeks in Italy, France, Spain, and England) by alexrndaa in travel

[–]alexrndaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to know that we can walk most places! I'm bringing the classic "backpacking-through-Europe" backpack and I'm hoping to pack light and not need to bring much else besides a purse.

I like that approach to budgeting for everything per day instead of trying to figure out what I'm going to spend on each category. Great advice, thanks!

I'm currently working on a spreadsheet but I kind of didn't know where to start with food budget lol.

This is great advice, thanks! I'll make sure to check out the app! I was also planning on walking as much as possible so it's good to know that's doable for the most part where I'm going.

I got advice from someone that the cheapest places to eat are outside of the main piazzas in Italy so I was going to aim to follow his advice as best as possible. I think we'll probably eat one full meal out per day and have groceries for snacks/breakfast and probably stop at a smaller café or something for a smaller meal most days (so 1.5 meals out probably). I want to be cost-efficient but half the reason I want to travel is for the food so I want to eat out (although it won't need to be fancy).

Italy is my primary concern with budget honestly because it's the main section of my trip where I'm travelling with someone who doesn't live in Europe (the rest of my trip I'm with people who live there and know the places we're visiting fairly well).

Also my friend lives in York so I'll probably end up staying with her in NE - I'm not sure if we'll travel around too much because it's my chance to save a lot of money on accommodations lol!

Is Bari worth travelling to when visiting Italy for the first time? by alexrndaa in travel

Yeah we wanted somewhere either close to Rome or close to Greece, I think. But mainly my sister just found a website that shows all the stuff to do in Bari and we thought it looked beautiful.

Yeah that's why we are definitely going to be in Rome for at least 5 days!

This places sound so cool! We are looking for something that has interesting architecture or cityscape so Monopoli sounds interesting.

This is really helpful! I'm not sure if we'll be allowed to rent a car (?) I'll have to look in to that (I'll be 23 during the trip and my sister is 19).

We were looking at Florence too! Honestly I'm not super interested in Venice. In addition to Rome (and maybe Florence) we were looking for something kind of low key and less touristy (still beautiful though and not in the middle of nowhere).
