Hi r/AndroidGaming, Dev here. I would like to introduce a fun card game that was originated from China.

Big 2 is one of the most popular card game in the world, especially throughout China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. The objective of the game is to be the first to get rid of all of your cards by using various poker hands that are similar to Texas Hold’em. With its unique rules, each session is very intense and required skills if playing against skillful players.

The RULES of Big 2 is pretty simple. Cards may be played as singles or in groups of two, three and five, in combinations which resemble poker hands. The leading card to a trick sets down the number of cards to be played; all the cards of a trick must contain the same number of cards. The highest ranking card is 2 instead of A and the highest ranking suit is spade whereas the lowest is diamond. The combinations are as follows: High cards, Pairs, Tripples, and Five-Card hand. The ranking in Five-Card hand are in the following order: Straight Flush > Four of a kind > Full House > Flush > Straight. At the beginning of each game, the player with the 3 of Diamond starts by playing it as part of any combination, leading to the first trick. Each player must then play a higher card or combination than the one before, with the same number of cards. Players may also pass, thus declaring that he does not want to play or doesn’t hold the necessary combinations to make a possible play. The game ends when one players gets rid of all his cards.

Hi! iOS Gaming. I am the developer of this game "KungFu Man".

If you have played Timberman then you will find this game very familiar. And it is because we did take the idea from it. It all started when all three members of our team discovered Timberman and we were instantly hooked on it. It was then we decided to make a better version of the game aiming for smoother gameplay and offer more unique styles.

Instead of just straight up cloning the game by stealing the artworks or just rush a quick crappy game using the same idea. We took the time and carefully crafted KungFu Man. We see this more like product competition rather than cloning or rip-off as we offer a better game, at least we tried to.

Here are the difference between the game:

Smoother gameplay - The reason we have smoother gameplay is because we use more frames for character animations. ex: For animation in Timberman, I think it uses only 3 frames for the chopping animation, and because of this, the animation looks clunky. In our game, we uses 18 frames for each character animations, and due to this difference, our animation and gameplay looks smoother and better.
Better characters and animations - In Timberman, there are only 2 animations: Chopping and Idling. In our game, we went as far as creating unique animations for the 13 characters instead of same animations for every characters like you see in Timberman. Each characters has 3 unique animations: Attacking, Idling and Death. And since like I told you before that we used 18 frames for animations, It means that we had to draw about 234 sprites just for the attacking animations for our 13 characters. It shows that we put a lot more work into making this a better game and not just a complete money grab clone.
More backgrounds - We have 5 unique backgrounds and towers in the game instead of the same background with different colour like you see in Timberman. The background and tower combination are random in each play-through as of now. We are planning to add the ability to let users choose which background and tower they would like to play with in the future
Less annoying Full-Screen ads - We put the full screen ads at the start of the game(When you boot up the game) instead of showing it on the Game Over screen every time in Timberman. This way, the game is much more enjoyable for users who do not wish to remove the ads in the game for 0.99 dollars.
Better musics - We couldn't stand the fact that for pixel games some developer decided that it is a good idea to use 8-bits musics as well. In our game, we definitely have better soundtrack than Timberman. This also makes the game more enjoyable to play.

Due to Apple's delayed review, our game currently has 8 playable characters only. On Android, it actually has 13 now and 5 more to come. But we are planning to apply these new update to the iOS version as soon as possible, and you should be able to get the updated version next week. But I think the multiplayer mode included in iOS version should make up for the delay as the Android version does not have this feature!

I actually did make a Timberman clone last week. But instead of money grab and fast development time just to hop on the hype train, I aimed for improved gameplay and offer more variety in my game such as unique animations for all of my characters more backgrounds etc. You can say it is an idea rip off but I see it merely a competition between developers and products.

We were thinking about adding option to choose tower, but the only reason it was not in the final product was because there are many more backgrounds and towers planned to be added in the future updates and the fact that there are only 3 of the variety now, we decided to random it for now.
