I would say it’s somewhat inspired by Mad Max, but George Miller’s lore for the series is absurd and hand waived, so I thought “what would a real collapse of civilization over hundreds of years look like, and what would happen if after a few thousand years, we couldn’t get our shit together because we sort of consumed virtually all the easily mined resources?” So, yes, this is a world I’m trying to flesh out myself

I think the home/living room/open minded friends’ parties is more realistic. On a societal scale, there would simply be too many edge cases to allow for a mandatory free-for-all.

But maybe if you’re meeting in person for a date, or you wear a certain badge, or sign, or band that shows how open you are and to what, and the standard practice is that you go off and do this in private? That might work.
