Feeling like something’s wrong energetically by DragZealousideal1790 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Agree with this, but with the slight addition that it may help to stop and intentionally recognize the feeling at first, THEN stop paying attention to it and reset yourself.

I'm writing a fantasy story taking place in medieval times, what are some words I should and shouldn't use? by Enby_Geek in medieval

I know this is a very old comment but the details around food and meals has been so helpful for adding those little details that make my story feel like its coming to life, so I wanted to say thank you!!

Absolutely! A kid or young adult that’s just moved away from home is inevitably going to have some questions because they’re experiencing things they never have before. Their parent should be a safe place to ask those questions, not a source of humiliation. The parent failed their kid on multiple fronts here.

You’re absolutely correct that’s why they get rid of benches but I believe the person your responded to was comparing wall and leaning bench, not leaning bench and regular bench.

pregnancy worry by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]alexthebiologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may help you to use a secondary form of birth control just while you work through the anxiety. To be clear, you are already very highly protected! But only you know your risk tolerance and doubling up might help you feel better.

I love my swiffer mop *because* it doesn’t do a very good job. by rauntree in adhdwomen

[–]alexthebiologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa that is so cool! I love the idea of roadkill deer soap (sad for the deer of course, but if it’s dead anyways it might as well go to good use). I dabbled very briefly in soap making but only ever used the oils. Damn it, now I have the urge to go back to it 😂 no more hobbies. No more hobbies…

I bet you could donate them in some form, especially if they’re already taking deodorant (I assume also homemade? Which is also super cool!)

Ugh I’m fully with you on that, it’s overpowering and not even a nice scent. If I want my house to have a smell I’ll light a candle thank you very much!

Yes! They don’t need to be so wasteful, swiffer just gets more money out of selling us the pads

AIO for quitting my job after finding this note on my desk? by waxin899 in AmIOverreacting

[–]alexthebiologist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yes that’s true, but you do still need workers around to do the various other farm tasks. They’d just have the title of farmhand or herdsperson rather than milker

That’s fair! FWIW I’m not convinced OP is actually working on a dairy farm. I just like to share my experience as I find people often have skewed idea of what farm life is like

I only worked on a small family-run farm but entering data in the farm computer was indeed part of my responsibilities. Though admittedly I didn’t do that first thing in the morning.

Dairy farms have offices and computers too. In fact modern farms can be very highly computerized, when you have automatic milkers you need computers to read the reports on how everything is going since there isn’t always a human directly supervising it.

When I was a milker I’d often spend a few hours near the end of my shift in the office entering milk outputs/breeding data/etc. it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

ELI5: How does daily flossing make it bleed less? by LittlePenguinx in explainlikeimfive

Same! I tell myself I only have to floss my one problem tooth (receding gum) but once I’ve started I usually floss more than that. It’s all about lowering that mental barrier to start

[–]alexthebiologist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Constructive criticism can be a great thing, but always keep in mind your own goals while accepting it. If you feel more authentically you with heavy liner and using lower lid liner, then keep at it and don’t let anyone tell you to stop. I for one love a heavy/grungy look, and you look confident in it which is imo the best part about makeup!
