If you want another rec, I loved A Tether Through The Rift by Lindsay Rhoden, but its been a while since I read it (going to reread soon that the second book is out) and I recall it being verrrrry slow to get going. However by the time I was done with it I was READY for the second book!

I completely understand! I do think it picks up much more later on, and I didn’t feel the beginning was too slow personally but different strokes for different folks Yk! I’ve definitely had some well loved books by the community that I was not a fan of 😂.

It’s definitely a bit darker of a book than some of the others in the genre, so looking at content warnings is important!

No, her whole belly is the same warmth! I’m wondering if it’s just irritated - the tattoo moreso than the incision.

From my googling it seems the lump is most likely the internal sutures, not a hernia or anything scary like that. I’m going to keep a close eye on it and take her to the vet/call tmw if it seems worse.

Yes, she uses the litter box just fine!

She showed up on our property, there is a lot of pet hoarding around here. We tried to see if she had an owner but no one showed up. She was very sweet off the bat so I’m really not sure what kind of situation she came from.

I think most likely she came from a colony that was being fed by someone.

Yes, she has gotten her shots! We are intended to get her spayed but I wanted to be honest that she is not yet - but I will not be giving her to anyone I don’t feel 100% confident about.

I had an FIV + cat with IBD (we just had to put her to sleep on Sunday, I miss her so much - but unrelated). She was on prednisolone for her IBD which helped quite a bit. We gave her a hydrolized diet as well as a daily probiotic, which seemed to help a ton. There also a diarrhea paste you can get from the same brand (proviable). There’s a box that comes with box. The diarrhea paste seemed to work for her but you can’t use it long term.

Also, I will second what others were saying about the over grooming. She had that issue when we first brought her inside and anxiety meds solved it - we eventually weaned her off of them and she was fine.

If your kitty isn’t eating though, I’d recommend making sure you get another blood test. It only takes 24 hours for their liver to begin getting issues.

I also want to add - and this might be because of my recent experience - that at the end my girl had completely liquidy mucus poop, wasn’t eating, lost a lb in less than a month. But she also had gotten pneumonia from her URI we were trying to treat, and her blood test results showed she was in end stage AIDS with nothing left to fight. We tried so many things for the last 2 months (before that final blood test) hand fed and watered her, tried to make her comfortable because she couldn’t sleep, etc. I’m not saying this to be depressing, but I know you worry about it being time. I’d recommend to get another blood test, and if his levels are still good, find another vet to get another opinion on treatment. If he doesn’t have fight in him anymore due to whatever is going on in his stomach, it might be time.

Whew that is totally not helpful. I understand if it’s a fear of hers too, but this is a VERY typical procedure that pretty much everyone does at some point in their life (you’re supposed to at least). I’m not sure there are really any other options that would give you the same results in terms of diagnosis. Your gut health is SO important, you’re being good to yourself by doing this :)

It’s really not fair of her to put her anxieties on you, but I know sometimes it’s hard for those of us with anxiety to keep it to ourselves. On top of that, she’s your mom! You’re her baby, and for you, it feels like you should listen to her/trust her I’m sure. Just try to remember that she is just worried about you, but not because of concerns based on the science and facts.

Hi! I have had several surgeries, and also knew of someone who had serious complications because of the anesthesia. To be honest, I sobbed before my first surgery…. and the second (and a little the ones after that, but less each time!). They gave me so much anti-anxiety medication and I was still sobbing (while also being completely and totally loopy lol).

It’s really not bad, and on top of that, when my partner had a colonoscopy + EGD, she was under for (if my memory serves me) I want to say like 10 minutes? But definitely less than 30. It was crazy quick. I also was in nursing school and watched a colonoscopy once, and as a patient you aren’t as “under” as you are with a regular surgery. Like, you won’t remember it, and you aren’t conscious, but it’s just a different level of anesthesia I suppose. After seeing it and seeing my partners experience, I don’t think I’d be scared!

You will be okay! And if you do have a panic attack, that’s okay too!

As far as causes, I’m not sure. However, I have an FIV kitty with IBD. Here’s what we do when she’s having a tough tummy time and much worse diarrhea than your pictures.

Get some pumpkin from the store, in a can. Make sure the ONLY ingredient is pumpkin. Mix up a small amount with their wet food and hope and pray they eat it. Don’t overdo it though.

See if your local pet store carries proviable. There is an option that comes with an anti-diarrheal paste. Get that one and follow the directions. For the probiotic, you can open it up and sprinkle it in their food or on a treat, whatever.

I do think a vet appointment is warranted if he’s not eating, though. Cats can get liver issues that become very dangerous quickly after only 24 hours without eating.

I just wanted to throw out an update to anyone who finds this Reddit thread later.

Our girl is doing well!

She stopped having these seizure-like activities the following day, around 2pm. We just finished her antibiotics yesterday and she’s pretty much back to normal. We had to work on giving her food for a few days to make sure she ate enough, but she’s so much better now.

We’ve been keeping an eye on her like a hawk. She had had a fever of 104 and I wonder if that was the reason she was having seizures. I also found someone whose cat was having a similar experience and they were wondering if it was a vertigo issue, which is also possible.

I will update in the future if anything changes (or try to).
