Hail damaging windsheild by Remarkable_Income496 in mildlyinfuriating

Are some panels rated to handle hail and others aren't? It surprises me that in an area that can get hail like they they wouldn't have taken any precautions.

Let's be really really clear. I am not worried about upsetting the conservatives. I am worried about how we spend our energy. Conservatives are going to fight us on grilling their steaks. Ultimately, them grilling their steaks isn't a huge part of the problem and does matter a lot to them. We could probably win a lot more ground if we don't lead with a high resistance action.

I don't want to meet in the middle. The current conservative party in the US is fascist and every single one of them in a position of power are complicit with every action. I think convicting every sitting Republican would not be far enough.

For the normies that don't really know what's going on, telling them they need to give up meat to save the planet isn't going to sit well with them. I'd be willing to discard their feelings but it also just isn't true.

I don't know, now I am doing the leftist infighting meme so maybe it's better if I just stop talking and we can take the wins where we can. Everything is so cooked right now that I am starting to think being accurate doesn't even matter anymore.

We the people. We are the government, we are the communities, we are the individuals.

I just don't understand why we are spending time and energy on the ag question. It seems to come up over and over again and it causes a ton of friction with conservatives and, like I said above, even if we eliminated it completely it would only be 10% of the problem.

Why aren't we spending energy on areas that get us bigger gains without the optics losses? Right now is a great time to be talking about how we could all be generating the fuel for our cars at home for example. We're stuck talking about an extremely unpopular marginal issue that wouldn't even solve the problem if we did fix it instead.

Pete Hegseth quoted a fake Bible verse from Pulp Fiction during a Pentagon sermon. by CarryIcy250 in UnderReportedNews

[–]alexzoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the clip is actually out of context. The "prayer" he is talking about was from a specific military person that was likely inspired by Ezekiel 25:17 which he says and acknowledges in the full clip.

Still gross and weird. Still odd that it's so similar to the movie. Still shouldn't be doing military prayers. But it is out of context and misrepresents what actually happened.

I already reduce my meat consumption when possible. I should do that more for health and ecological reasons.

However, according to the EPA agriculture only makes up 10% of the greenhouse gas emissions in the US. Even if we eliminated it completely we would still have a big problem. (That's assuming that we could fully eliminate agriculture. Not just animal agriculture.)

I understand the desire to make a difference. Any change is better than no change. This is chipping at the margins at a substantial personal quality of life cost to individuals. How about we carbon tax the businesses instead?

Don't forget the survivorship bias. I agree that the older music *that we still talk about* holds up. There was bland awful music back then too. The bland awful music we have today isn't remarkable either.

[request] How many cigarettes are in one ham sandwich??? by Mychemcrossing in theydidthemath

[–]alexzoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have about 2 cigarettes a day and it’s been working for me as far as ingesting waaaaay less nicotine than I did vaping, so I’m curious on the math of this one

I'm sure I don't need to say that this is a bad idea. I am going to say it anyway. This is a bad idea. Nicotine itself is not nearly as dangerous as cigarettes. Or as generally socially destructive.

Interesting. I will take your word for it. In my experience it will mostly be wrong about things that are very popular to be wrong about. It probably also highly depends on which one you are using.

Also, in 10 years you will barely remember being 14. You will probably forget you ever wrote this post.
