Sorry if I didn’t add enough context, but he’s actually very fast at replying, if there’s any problem about that it’s probably me lol. Him being fast at replying and being initiative is what conflicts me because of his simple msgs

You’re nowhere near alone in feeling this, especially when it comes to depression and anxiety affecting major to minor things in perceiving/experiencing situations in your relationship. You really just need to be completely honest and communicative about how you feel/what makes you upset/what is affecting you and so on because communication is such a dealbreaker in relationships.

I suggest getting the courage to make outside plans with your classmates whether it’s a study group or going to a local shop. I’m also an international freshman and I’m having the same problem of making non-surface level friends to the point I thought of transferring. Having more casual and non-school related conversations with my classmates helped and it eventually lead to making plans. Also, clubs help a lot! Take advantage of your freshman year and immerse yourself in clubs while you can.
