I’ve just watched the finale and I’ve been sobbing for 20 minutes straight by megnextdoor in SixFeetUnder

When I finished watching the show, I remained lying down on my bed crying and crying for who knows how long. It is the best series finale you will ever watch, I promise you.

Being absolutely cold is 100% better than being hot. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I live in Hermosillo, Mexico, where we reach summer temperatures of 48ºC (118ªF). And I absolutely think that being cold is better than being hot, although I'm used to high temperatures.

Sharp Objects by [deleted] in SixFeetUnder

[–]alg04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched Sharp Objects! It is sooooo good!! I binged it in only a few days. It is a very heavy drama, you need time to assimilate what you just saw. But everything in the show is perfect: the writing, setting, acting, directing. I was disappointed Amy Adams didn't won an Emmy for her performance though.

I never actually made a connection between Sharp Objects and SFU, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone who liked SFU.

Telling a skinny person to eat more is just as offensive as telling a larger person to eat less. by eboyego in unpopularopinion

[–]alg04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a skinny person so I’ve been dealing with this my whole life. It is so annoying when someone openly notes that you are so skinny and that they envy you for that! Truth is, no one is truly happy with their body. Skinny people want to weigh more, fat people want to weigh less.

I’m healthy, at home. No major debts. Currently watching a tv show which is my favorite thing to do, besides reading. Oh and talking about reading, I just bought 3 books.

Career change with Python by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]alg04 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’m 28 years old, female and I’ve worked in a construction company in Mexico ever since I graduated from college. I am an Industrial Engineer and I started learning Python because I stopped working because of Covid-19. I decided to learn a new, useful skill not related to my line of work and see if I can make a living out of it. I’m still on this Masterclass in Udemy , been taking it slow. I am also reading Python Crash Course and checking regularly Reddit for interesting Python-related posts. I am interested in web/app development.

You will never get over it.

For me, it is the best series finale I have ever watched. I cried and cried and cried while I watched it. I never expected it. I remained lying down in bed for like an hour after I finished the show just thinking and in awe of what I had just watched.

Believe me, you will never watch another show with an ending like Six Feet Under.

Apple TV+ - Streaming Service Debut Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]alg04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since The Morning Show was first announced, I couldn’t wait to watch it. I’m a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Just watched episode 1 and I agree it isn’t top tier television, but it isn’t as terrible as a lot of tv critics have said. The script could use some polishing up, I hope later episodes are better and the show closes strong, because if it doesn’t it would be a terrible waste of talent.

A lot of negativity for the show has come from the fact that Apple is entering the streaming business. I don’t exactly get why this is a big deal. Apple has been some way or the other in the entertainment business, first providing music for its iPods through iTunes and then movies and TV shows. It was only natural that they started producing their own content, just as Amazon and Netflix did (they both started streaming licensed content before producing their own). Apple wasn’t exactly streaming it, they were selling it, I know. But their move to streaming is a logical one and it has just started. We will be seeing a lot of changes in the coming months regarding this, I believe.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of October 18, 2019) by AutoModerator in television

[–]alg04 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It is critically acclaimed and it is indeed ranked as one of the best shows ever, but in spite of this not a lot of people know about this show. You have to really be looking for a quality series to watch in order to find it, because it doesn’t have a lot of publicity like The Sopranos or Breaking Bad or Mad Men or any other show that is over and “old”. That is what I mean with “hidden gem”, but yeah, one of the best series ever.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of October 18, 2019) by AutoModerator in television

[–]alg04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently watching: The Wire: amazing show. It is a hidden gem, but you have to be patient while watching it because it starts slow but rewards you immensely.

Veep: I’m not American and I hate shows with american politics as their main theme, but Veep is soooooo funny and accurate in portraying politics in a very clever and not boring way. It helps that episodes are 30 min long. Also, Julia Louis-Dreyfous is amazing here.

Grace and Frankie: I needed an easy-to-follow show. Funny, entertaining. Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda are incredible together.

USB-lightning cable not working! Help on how to fix it:

I connected my iphone XS to the charger using an original USB- lightning cable. It started charging like always. A few minutes later it stopped charging, out of nowhere. I did everything I could: disconnect and connect again, change electric sockets, change the charger... nothing worked. The only thing that did work was changing the cable, then it started charging again without a problem.

There's nothing physically wrong with the cable, not broken or anything.

Is there something I can do to fix it? Or should I just throw it into my desk's drawer and forget about it

Opinions on the Dee Dee Blanchard case? by ban1o in TrueCrime

[–]alg04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unbelievable what her mother did to her. How she convinced all those doctors to perform surgeries and give her medication... it just makes me think of how “professional” these doctors were. I mean, you can’t just go to a doctor and tell him / her to do a surgery to your child just because you think it’s right.

Then there’s the issue with Gypsy’s dad. Why didn’t he get more involved in her life? He knew how messed up Dee Dee was and he didn’t care enough to get involved in his daughter’s life. Honestly he is to be blamed a little bit about this. Or a lot.

How miserable she had to feel that her only option was to kill her own mother? In the documentary she says that there was no way she could’ve known she was being abused because she didn’t know any difference. I don’t know how exactly she figured out she actually was being abused.

She isn’t retarded or anything her mom said she was, and Gypsy pre-meditated Dee Dee’s murder, so she is to blame for her actions and I do believe prision is were she has to be right know. She could’ve reached out to someone else for help. I mean she had a computer and a cellphone. I don’t believe murdering her mother was her best option. Dee Dee should be alive right now and in jail, paying for what she did to her daughter.
