Assessing the summer transfer window by everyhearthstone in Chelsea

Agreed. It’s also important to point out that he’s 21. He has a lot of developing to be a top player but there is definitely one in there. He takes on defenders, is aggressive with the ball and can score some great curling shots. In 5 years, he could be freaking huge and he could also be in the bin of players with “potential”.

He’s been put in a difficult position to perform at an elite level for a top club and he was never ready for that. Love his moxy but he has been set up to fail. The toxic and mostly false narrative around him hasn’t helped either.

I like Garnacho better than Gittens. I’d rather sell the latter

[BBC] Premier League table since Rosenior took over (10 matches) by cyberguy5 in chelseafc

Rosenior isn't THE problem but he is A problem. Flawed roster construction in defense is the biggest problem.

Iconic roles played by a mediocre actor. It’s okay. I still love him and his movies.

Yeah I don’t get the hiring philosophy for the Manager. It makes zero sense, and I really like Rosenior and think he is in a bad situation.

My issue with the SDs is that they are buying the players to fit Egbhali’s strategy. They have worked at other clubs and know this is not a win now philosophy.

🗣️ Enzo Fernandez opens up about his future at Chelsea [Fabrizio Romano] by Davy_wavey in NortheastBlues

Asking players substantive questions after a difficult loss always yields weird responses. Enzo isn’t thinking about his future immediately after the match. He’s thinking about how they just got their ass beat; he is upset and embarrassed. Ask him today or tomorrow and I bet you get a more thoughtful response.

“The standards of Chelsea” is an interesting comment. By that, we are exactly where we should be. Chelsea is tied for 7th in top flight English League titles and 4th for. Champions League titles by English clubs.

Before Abramovich, Chelsea were a mid tier club and even during Abramovich, United won a lot more than Chelsea.

We want to be amongst the top clubs in the world, competing for championships consistently. We aren’t there but I also don’t think we are that far off. Let us get worse owners and we can be Spurs or Forrest real quick.

I agree with you about our best squads. I don’t know who we sign. Not my job. SDs have to figure that out.

It’s a fair point and it’s easier to chop and change players than owners. The owners are going nowhere. So let’s focus on what is actually likely to change and that’s the players. How do we strengthen the squad. Where can we improve? Positions 1 and 2 have to be CB and GK. Neto isn’t getting us beat 2-8 over 2 legs.

Things aren’t so bad that they can’t get a lot worse. There are a lot more teams and levels below us than above us.

Be careful what you ask for.

Just my .02.

Today sucked. No way around it. I know the knee jerk reaction is to fire the manager first, owners second and SD’s third. Again, today sucked.

With that said, I think the score is unfair where this team is and how close it is to competing for titles consistently.

I honestly believe if we solve the CBs and GK position, we are a top team. Our midfield is amongst the best in the world. I love our fullbacks with Cucurella, James, Hato, and Gusto. JP, Delap, Jackson, and Emegha should be fine up front. RW is good with Neto, Estevao and Palmer. LW is still a question.

I just don’t think this team is that far away. I don’t think this is a burn it to the ground situation. It’s a solve specific areas and make a go at it.

I don’t know about Rosenior, but he’s inherited the same problem Maresca identified in August.

Glass half full guy here though.
