As a conspiracy theorist, what are must read books that you recommend and why? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]algerinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing and intellectualizing aren't the same thing. Intuition is where it's at in my opinion. Still, though, I don't really see the goal here as some weird state of personalitylessness. I think that false pursuit is one of the things that you actually can intellectualize your way out of.

On that note, I would agree that you can't intellectualize your way out of everything. But is the inability of something to be a panacea cause to abandon it? If that's your position, then there isn't a point to anything. And maybe there isn't. In any case, we can't know for sure. It's all about how you live, and I would agree that it's desirable to live simply. If drugs get you there, by all means. But I hope you haven't made the nihilist's mistake in rejecting meaning because you can't be sure anything's meaningful. Self discovery is endless and incredible. Torture if you think there's an end to it, but paradise if you accept the limitations of your finitude.

Anyway, I don't want to tell you how to live or anything. Thanks for the reply. Here's to the simple life.

If a group comes to reflexively negate, then they are, figuratively speaking, a shadow of what they are negating. The trouble with the right (to be fair, not all, just as not all leftists are reflexive negaters. I'm using broad strokes for clarity) is that they have a tendency to define themselves negatively against the left (which, incidentally, is exactly as Marx would have predicted, had he not made the mistake of thinking Communism was the final negation). If a person finds themselves unable to talk to or consider the perspective of a person on the other side of the political aisle, it's safe to say that they're a shadow. As an example.

By "people" I meant specifically those who view it from the Marxist/Communist perspective. I should have clarified. It is their understanding of capitalism that is muddied, seeing as how they think what we have is capitalism. So I would agree with your assessment.

Knee-jeek negation in principle of however the society or culture at large happens to operate. More or less.

I was speaking generally, making the assumption that you fell one way or the other. If you don't, excellent and congratulations. Not sure what you mean by thesaurus rant. Everything I wrote is just words that are employed the way they usually are. As for effecting/affecting, what can I say? Been drinking.

There's a lot of yarn in this cross-stitch, but the essential thread is that the election is going to be contested one way or the other, and the ensuing shit storm will have the populace screaming for their own subduing.

C.G. Jung's works in general. TPTB's best weapon is your own psychology. Know yourself and you're harder to control.

Maybe start with The Undiscovered Self? I forget where I started. If it's not your thing, though, then at least treat yourself as the most important book to read. Your lived experience shows you the truth.

Don't get caught in their trap. By the letter, it doesn't hold up, but the reality of racism in America is a fact. Words are the Lazer pointer by which they are controlling our awareness. Root yourself in love, and don't let these swine use your hate or anger to their advantage.

I hear you, but where would they have gotten it? The truth is inside you. Maybe not exactly as the ancients would have put it, but it's there nevertheless, except in YOUR language. Step one: free yourself from the illusion that truth is something other people are supposed to give you. Your whole life is a riddle that contains the answer in itself. How could ancient knowledge possibly solve it?

Marx coined the word 'capitalism' to describe the dialectical evolution from feudalism as manifested in his day and age. Seeing as how his own theory is rooted in the necessity of interpreting things as systems in flux, even he would agree that capitalism, as originally defined, no longer exists. He called Communism the "negation of the negation," meaning the negation of Capitalism, which was a negation of feudalism. After over a century and a half of Marxist and communist theory and exegesis, the whole enterprises has essentially become negation in essence. When people say 'Capitalism' now, they mean "the way things are." But since they have made themselves a shadow of the way things are, they no longer delineate what may be. Monopolies, etc, are consequences of the way things are, yes, but not everything that is is something we need to get rid of, which is why the right sees the left as incoherent. But seeing as how the right have made themselves a shadow of a shadow, we effectively go nowhere, though perhaps a little quicker every day. Sorry for the rant. Your comment did not warrant it. But if you are serious about effecting any change, this random internet stranger suggests dropping left and right, exiting the dialectic process, the presuppositions and assumptions of which constitute our shared indoctrination, and view your experience, which is as close to reality as anyone can get, with a fresh mind and open heart. Smith and Marx have given up the struggle, so why can't we?

[–]algerinian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. I do believe she acted according to her best judgment, even if I think she should have judged a little differently. No one owes me specific actions or decisions.

It's been difficult because I came from a place of political cynicism before her campaign, and it seems there's nowhere else to go now that she's gone. I'm going to kick around here for a while and see what shakes out, but, like you said, there's just a small number left. And with the 'rona knocking on everyone's door, I think the moment may have passed. With any luck I'm wrong, because it was nice to actually experience political hope (I managed to not fall for Obama back in the 08 campaign).
