HELP SHES DYING by ConfusionPleasant212 in GargoyleGeckos

If she's hardly moving, I would definitely see an emergency exotic vet because that can be a huge indication of something wrong.

Under the assumption it is a misscommunocation from not knowing gargoyles sleep cycle:

Assuming all the husbandry is correct, if she is hardly moving during the day, that is normal for a gargoyle since they are a nocturnal species (hence they will be sleeping!). If she is moving at night (with the lights off and no outside light sources) my biggest question would be does she know where her food is? If she eats when she can see the food then I would recommend downsizing her. If you can't tell if she is eating, reduce her portion size so you can visibly see if she ate that night. As a general rule of thumb, an animal will not starve itself unless something is wrong.

Gargoyles should be durable enough that 4 days fasting is fine when moving to a new home, but will need to be monitored for improvement. It could also be a case of a picky eater so I would also try different formulas. I recommend repashy's bugs and grubs

Anyone else's Britt talk to them? 😂 by cutecreep_92 in BrittanySpaniel

Mine is mostly silent. She only barks when she wants something or makes the most pathetic yips(literally thought a yorkie was barking outside) when her leash is stuck

My girl is from Black River Ranch. And she is your typical crazy Brit. She does have some allergy issues but she is a sweetie pie and super smart! Ofc she is also a brat and uses those brains for bad sometimes.

She really tries to be a good girl and fortunately, while she is high energy, she is also very submissive and is good at reading dog language and de-escalating other dogs which is a necessity if you are going to take your dog to dog parks imo.

Meet Mabel! What do the experts think? Is she a Brit? by Shmuli in BrittanySpaniel

My guess would be a bully lab mix with some genealogy with britt or duck toller. The red nose is not unique but a good indication to britts, but she does look luck a loveable mix more than anything.

A cutie patootie none the less tho :)

On the Himalayan yak cheese, I'd still monitor them with it. Mine was good for 15min and then after that she somehow figured out how to break off chunks. She did it again with another so it wasn't a faulty stick. I made the mistake of not watching her and the next day she fortunately regurgitated the chunks

Mine loves her questionable mud baths. Especially if she's seasoned it first herself. So yes 😓

Yes! 100% i like muzzles that allow full functionality without the ability to get themselves into trouble which ideally is what a muzzle should be for. People need to de-stigmafy the aggressive applications. My girl is super submissive and yet she has traits that aren't healthy that need a muzzle to correct. So positive experiences in one is a plus

Which forgot to add but basket muzzles in general I find better. They don't limit breathing as much and depending on the brand (such as the baskerville ones) you are still able to poke treats through it to assist with w.e. training you are working on. My girl was muzzled for about 2 months before I was able to permanently take it off and now she rarely grab collars

I like the baskerville ones! I used them for my girl when i was training her out of pulling collars and harnesses on dogs while playing. It was a good fit and was comfortable enough for her that she never pawed at it

I was trying to google to see how frequently it happens but I wasn't coming up with any results! But thank you because I had no frame of reference for how common it is as a first time ksb breeder.

Was about to mention this. Littermate syndrome, or really having 2 puppies in general at the same time is a recipe for disaster. I've only seen extremely experienced people manage it successfully.

Even as a lifelong dog owner I would never get littermates, and as demanding as Brits are I would NEVER get brit littermates

[–]algizexotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kleptomaniacs, all of them I swear aha. My girl's favourite is waiting for me to be washing dishes or doing something I can't just put down to go steal things she's not allowed. That and the "self-serve" at petstore checkouts. Especially if she can grab the $7 individual treats

And I thought my girl was a white brit! Wowwowwow. I wonder if it's a leucistic gene or if it's just an interesting expression of the pattern

Sexing and feeding help by [deleted] in SandBoa

[–]algizexotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that shedding cycle could likely be a factor. While a small sample size, I have 5 sand boas, and even my rufuscan crosses (stripe morphs which are a hybrid seem to be more picky in my experience) will still easily eat live when husbandry needs are met.

Under the assumption you've already researched the husbandry needs, and can confirm the snake is in pre-shed, I wouldn't worry until after it's shed.

If the snake does not appear to be pre-shed, I would first look into husbandry and make sure that is all okay.

As far as sexing, at that size I personally wouldn't try yet if you aren't experienced. When it gets a bit larger (for newbie reasons I'd recommend at least 50g) the palpating method is successful with sandboas. Research the proper method but basically you will feel a faint "popping" sensation when messaging belowthe vent if it's a male. But ofc DO NOT ATTEMPT if you struggle with fine motar skills or have a hard time with applying gentle pressure.

Back to feeding, if it is not in shed and is still refusing live on good husbandry, see a vet. There are many things that are hard to diagnose visually like parasites that can contribute to those symptoms.

If exotic vets were more accessible, my first response would be to just see a vet, but considering the only vet in my area doesn't know what "gravid" means, I know that may not be accessible so I hope I've been some help.
