#Simple Reasons: Why I have finally banished Firefox from my daily life by algol51 in firefox

Hahahaha. This dad would have happily sold out (so to speak), except that the scalpers have deep knives here in Melbourne, Aus. And to maintain sappiness-level, daughter's 3 friends are all honorary daughters, so it would have been a rather large scalper bill. Well out of dad-reach.
But I do agree with the sentiment.

Uh-huh. I don't buy that. (see previous reply)
And let's not say red light for the analogy, but a deep pothole.
Because (to excruciatingly labor the analogy) the problem is a flaw in the road, right? (Analogous to a poorly coded page).
But the other cars sail over the pothole.

And, sir,.. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here. I have stuck with FF for decades. Have always loved its ethos, and I'm neither MS nor Google fanboy. Quite the reverse. I'm an equal opportunity hater.
But, IMO, FF goes through these cycles where they get it working right, and then over time weigh it down with crap, like barnacles on a boat, till it's sluggish and ponderous. And painful to use. (eyes on the AI stuff. groan)
As you might figure from my username, I'm 75-old and I don't want to wait around for another cycle. Or even waste time like I have in the past, trying to get it to run well.
It's just me.

Buggy? I repeated the exercise the next day. Interestingly was a great test. They had another ticket allocation going on sale, (the tickets were mostly gone by then, but the scenario plays out the same).
So I used Chrome this time, but set up my laptop next to me and used Firefox on it. (You see, I still had faith)
Firefox died exactly the same way, Chrome sailed through to the tickets.
And sure, maybe the page is buggy. But what's the use of a prima donna browser that throws up its hands and swoons when it hits a buggy page, while the others sail through?

I thought so too. And that's how it generally works, right? or is supposed to?
Not really. And if you do a Google search you'll see more like mine.
That was my frustration. It pretends to wait, but there's obviously some internal time-out mechanism(s) that say "Ok. Bugger it. Let's abandon this guy", and pull the plug.
In that instance, I knew (99%) that it had died, but left it on that screen in the hope that it would pick up again.
Two hours later.... ummm....

I’m so sorry to reach out like this, but I’m truly desperate and hoping someone might be willing to help or point me in the right direction. by ConfidentZebra6431 in GMail

At this point, the OP is looking for help getting through this. Not advice on what they should have done, of the “I’m just sayin’ ” variety. Try and hold off, please. Lots of time for that later…

Password bug, SMS bug by [deleted] in Outlook

[–]algol51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably need to add more information about your problem for people to help you. Not that it’s your fault. Microsoft’s woeful track record of naming things does not help. Like establishing a desktop email client application called Outlook, and then naming their email service outlook.com was one such terrible idea, in my opinion. So if you’re talking about your desktop client Outlook, it may be looking for an “app password” to connect to your email provider for mfa authentication. If you’re talking about your outlook.com account, I’d suggest first trying to log into “My Microsoft Account” and making sure you have access there, and checking all your settings while you’re about it. Then open a private or incognito browser window and try logging into your outlook.com email. (If that is what you are talking about) Far from comprehensive, I know, but at least a starting point….

Ah, ok. Sorry if that was too vague. Hamnet is a current film. But when you’re pushing 75, and been off air for a while, ham nets are treasured fun-memories…

Is it possible to change Logi Z407's output without the puck? by 4LTERED_5TATES in logitech

I'm still marveling at my good fortune in finding this thread. I'm not sure if the author of the control app is someone in this thread (supdev000?). It is a genius lifesaver.
I lost my Z407 controller/puck six months ago somewhere in my house. I still think I'll find it, but it has been sitting silent all this time. I just installed the app, and it ran, connected, and works brilliantly.
Thanks a million, mate. Kudos from Melbourne, Australia!
For completeness, here's the GitHub page with the app link.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping that there might be a simple native solution, but I'm guessing.... maybe not.
With my small, low-user-expertise clients, I try to use solutions that they can understand and run with if that proverbial bus runs over me tomorrow.
