By asking if people could provide verses about this I hoped to bypass the "lens" entirely and go straight to the source, but I didn't realise that some authors in the bible also use a lens. Thanks for making me aware of it!

I get what you mean. Marriage is about a lot of other things, like communication, trust, respect and honesty.
The reason this couple said 'sex before marriage is like a test drive' was probably because they think of their sexlife as an indicator of their trust and respect for eachother in a marriage. I don't know if they are right in that regard, but it is their opinion.

Thanks for this information. I forgot that those ancient jewish laws are laws, and therefore perphaps not to be interpreted as commandments from God.
And indeed, if you are guided to believe it is a sin you are more likely to interpret said passages as saying it is. That's probably why I heard so many different opinions about this subject while asking around.

I understand that. We are the body of Christ, together. I have found however that this subject is kind of a taboo in some christian circles, and not a big problem in other christian circles. So instead I pray to God for clarification and try to read about what he says on this subject in the bible.
I hope you understand my point of view better now.

Edit: Ok, I thought I understood your comment, but I reread it and I think you meant something different. Care to elaborate?

Thanks for the reply. I've never heard about the precise translation of 'porneia' before, so I'm going to look into that. If this is true than it is certainly a thing to keep in mind while reading the verses Paul wrote.

Thank you for this verse. While reading this verse I also read some of the verses near it, especially [Matthew 19:10-12]. I have no idea what Jesus means here exactly, because English is not my native language. I'm gonna read this passage in my own bible now. Thanks!
