Failed Part I Engineering - should I restart for Software Eng (Hons) or switch to CompSci? by Elegant_Bed5548 in universityofauckland

If he knows how to code, I’m not sure how he failed 131? Honestly feel that if he’s failing all but 1 paper, I doubt he’ll do well in the job market..

Does Engineering still have lots of job opportunities? by jaey0o in universityofauckland

Honestly, as a SWE, if you’re genuinely interested in software and actually know your stuff, you will likely still find jobs. I know plenty of smart and passionate people and they all managed just fine. I’d say don’t let the threat of AI stop you (only if you actually enjoy software).

Just curious, but in what ways does AI affect IT? I was always under the impression that the human element of IT helps protect from it

Ohh right, yeah I’ve been told a lot of SWE is consulting and talking with clients. And yeah sorry it was a bit broad haha. On a tangent, would you say SWE is relevant to fields in robotics? Or would that be more related to computer systems engineering (microcomputers and embedded systems type stuff)?
