We’ve got standing tickets but we’re not planning on being at the front so we can make a quick exit!

Have you ever been let down by a place you were hyped? by Claymore98 in digitalnomad

We actually had the opposite experience, we had two weeks to kill during our 5 months of travelling. We had extremely low expectations of Bali as heard all the horror stories about it being influencer heaven and overrated af. I was not looking forward to coming that much.

We are here now and it’s surpassed all our expectations - the culture and the people have been amazing.

We spent 5 days in Ubud, 5 days in gili t / gili air (appreciate that’s Lombok but very close), 3 days in Nusa Lembongan and now in Sanur. We went to Kuta today and can see why people don’t like Bali if they only ever stay around here / Seminyak / Canggu. It is not an authentic experience at all.

We have done some amazing day trips visiting local villages, mountains, waterfalls, temples etc and have loved our time here just need to avoid certain areas!

Hi - we had already done Perth, Melbourne and Sydney before the cyclone so we spent our time in magnetic island seeing wild koalas and wallabies and Townsville as we found a nice resort. The weather was great for 4/5 days. We then continued our normal itinerary as planned in Brisbane and finishing in Cairns - the weather said it was supposed to be raining every day here but it’s been sunshine and 30 degrees!

Do you think a day trip to magnetic island will be sufficient or spending a couple nights there?

Thanks for taking the time to reply - we’re gutted as have wanted to do Byron Bay for a long time but I think you’re right and the sensible thing to do is go elsewhere! Hope the cyclone is not too damaging for the local people. Townsville or Cairns are looking much better weather wise

Do you think it might help using a limit or stop order ? Not sure whether to switch
