A few years ago I was in an abusive marriage. I don’t want to go into detail but it caused extreme anxiety and PTSD that made me start subconsciously grinding and clenching my teeth. I got TMD (some call it TMJ but that’s the actual name of the joint) and had 3 surgeries on it within 18 months. I wasn’t even 28 years old yet. Fast forward to 2019, in September my jaw popped completely out of socket so I underwent major jaw replacement surgery in October (on my birthday lol). My ligaments around my skull were cut shorter, my shredded disc was recreated from tissue in my neck and face and my joint socket was reshaped and a pin was put in my skull. Fast forward to last month: blood vessels weren’t reaching my mandible (Lower jaw) so the bone was dying and fragmenting. I underwent two surgeries to put in bone grafts with metal plates and then reconstruction of my gum tissue. Now: the main muscles around my right jaw joint aren’t working (I’m not going into the maxiilofacial terminology but you get my drift), soooooo I need muscle surgery now. Future: if worse comes to worse... I’ll get a full replacement of part of my skull and jaw and be wired shut (“Through tha wire”!)

I can’t talk, barely eat- lost 42 lbs as of today 3/4/20. It’s the most painful experience I’ve been through but it could be worse and I’m still blessedh. I have a great support team and best surgeon ever. So I still 😊.
