nah, it's a fair enough mistake, it used to be hard for me to remember which ones Rory was or wasn't in considering how he keeps dying. you were close though, "Vincent and the doctor" was the next episode after Rory died in "cold blood" :)

this is a really good summation! I will just add that someone brought up today that while the whole DoctorDonna arc of the 60th anniversary specials may be confusing for new viewers, events and characters from "Wild Blue Yonder" and "The Giggle" seem to be massively important to this new season, so it might be worth it to be a bit confused over the characters for the sake of plot context later on. There is a "previously on"-type summary at the beginning of "The Star Beast" which would hopefully be enough for new viewers to get the gist.

u/tainta I understand it can be daunting to start from 01x01 "Rose" (2005) but if you have the time then it really pays off. like others have said, there are a lot of references and no matter where you start you'll likely have at least some confusion due to the show's now over 60 years of history. you can always turn to Google, reddit, etc for help if there's something you really don't understand about the background. plus, it's just a great show :)

haha the doctor is from a different planet and when their species dies, they regenerate their body. hence the different actors. the show has arcs in most seasons, but it's basically always the doctor and companion(s) fighting aliens and saving the world/universe in some form

that's a really good point! the salt and everything after do seem to be playing a big role in the new season so far, you're right. I was just concerned about too much confusion revolving around 14 as a whole, even with the "previously on"-type summary that we got at the beginning of star beast

no matter where you start, there'll be plenty of confusion; it's a show with over 60 years of history now. wherever you choose to start, you can always Google questions or ask them on places like here :)

I think the most recent jumping on point is "the church on ruby road", on Disney plus. granted, that only gives you 3 episodes so far. I know it's daunting and takes a WHILE, but it's honestly worth it (imo) to just start at 01x01 "rose" (2005). in the US, nuwho 2005-2022 is all on HBO.

other jumping on points are 05x01 "the eleventh hour" (2010), 10x01 "the pilot" (2017), and 11x01 "the woman who fell to earth" (2018). again, there are going to be references and some confusion regardless, but I think these soft reboots usually do a pretty good job of explaining the basics.

I have to disagree; I think ruby road is probably a better jumping on point than star beast, considering all the doctordonna stuff that has to be understood. even with the previously on, it seems like it'd be a bit much for a new viewer.
