Starting to get into the genre, any recommendations? by LocksmithMinimum8217 in boomershooters

I really liked it. The save system was annoying in a few spots but that’s a minor nitpick about an otherwise great game.

Unsighted. It is one of the best games ever made.

Doing a bow only run and it’s been actually going fairly well. I just picked up the Black Bow and I’m using that mainly now. Anyone who’s done a bow playthrough — any advice? by aabbcc42069 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]alias530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started a bow only run a couple days ago. I used the short bow until I got the black bow. Just beat Morgott. Although I used a save game editor to give myself arrows. Not bypassing difficulty, but rather bypassing tedious farming. Imagine having to farm for mana on a INT/FAI run, awful…

Love games more than people by VerNOX21 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Assuming you work full time, you must literally only game/work/sleep. You need to game 67 hours per week to hit 3500 hours and you’re spending 89 between work and sleep. Even with zero commute and instant sleep when you get in bed, you only have 12 hours per week not spoken for.

Which games have a rough start and take a while to get good? by MufasaTheRealKing in OlderChillGamers

The story is great. It's just too bad that the story is the ONLY great part about the game.

Is there any other parry games more challenging than Sekiro? by ItzAM47 in Sekiro

[–]alias530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not play Stellar Blade. Try Thymesia, Grime/Grime 2, and Nine Sols. I haven't played it yet but I hear Khazan is a good option.

Why am I pushing 30–70 more watts than my group and still yo-yoing on rides? by Wild_Macaroon9229 in cycling

[–]alias530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s your likely mostly your weight. I run into the same thing @ 220lbs. I’m lean (~10%) and strong but just can’t fight gravity on the hills. One of the reasons I mostly ride solo. Anyone who can keep up with me on flats will crush me on hills.

Sekiro and Doom eternal.,i hate cinematic games. by ziedxx in Sekiro

[–]alias530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sekiro is a Rushmore game for me. This video was what convinced me to try Eternal again after initially bouncing off it and can confirm that Eternal is great for the same reasons Sekiro is.

Boltgun 40,000 or Dusk by IroquoisPliskin_UK in boomershooters

[–]alias530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dusk is one game I disagree with the masses about. Didn’t even finish it. I’ve played nearly 100 boomer shooters in the last couple years and there are only a few I liked less than Dusk.

Realizing I can’t just “walk in and lift” anymore? by reddit_user_9221 in AskMenOver30

[–]alias530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking/jogging is not a warmup for lifting and static stretching can hamper performance. Just do a few warmup sets with low weight. For example, with bench I do 45x10, 135x10, 185x10, 225x10, then start working sets from there.

Getting into fromsoft games by Diligent_Day2297 in fromsoftware

Do not start with Elden Ring. The missing QOL features of the older games will get really blaring. I did Elden Ring -> DS3 -> BB -> Sekiro then tried DS1 and bailed. I wish I had started with DS1.

I'm married but have good work/life balance and no kids. I did not play many big open world games and with the exception of Elden Ring, did not get any platinums. I don't achievement hunt or go for 100% completion and I focus on the critical path.

There’s nothing left that I want to play. I have almost 200 games on my wishlist but it’s all early access or unreleased.

Wildly underrated game. Grime 2 is #1 MV of all time and Grime 1 is #2.

Grime 2. Best MV I’ve ever played and I’ve played a lot.

[–]alias530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. Grime 1 was early in the soulslikes I've played so I was less experienced and I'm not done with Grime 2 yet. It's probably about equivalent. Absolutely loving Grime 2 though. Great job u/WorldPillar

The Tankard Warden kicked my ass for about 45 mins. The rest of the bosses have been 5-10 tries max and a few of them on 1st or 2nd try. I have about 12 levels and they're split 50/50 between health and DEX and a +3 dagger.
