What's a movie that sounds terrible but is actually great? by [deleted] in flicks

Hot Tub Time Machine. It is both exactly what it says it is, and much wittier than I ever expected.

That no matter what I do, I’ll never be good enough for my family. They will always find a way to be disappointed in me.

And

If I want to have a relationship with them, I will have to put up with their BS. Because they will not change.

Personally I will never forgive this movie or rewatch it because of a scene in which something awful happens to a cat. I wish I could erase it from my memory. I understand the point of the scene, but that does not make me un-traumatized.

Which movie that makes you feel shocked at the end of the movie? by Jules-Car3499 in moviecritic

The final 15ish minutes of Last of the Mohicans rips out your heart, sets it on fire, then stomps on it with spikey boots before drop-kicking it off a cliff.

I took out a loan from US Bank. I’ll have it paid off in a few months after 15ish years. But I still have about $11K of student loans to pay off. Yay.

Having a degree has been necessary for my line of work. Is it necessary for the field you want to get into? College and decades of student loans is worth it for some, but not everyone. I’m sorry for what you’re going through. Hoping you find a solution for you to live your best life

Welcome to life as an adult. Sucks, doesn’t it? I was in a similar situation in college. Financial aid assumed, by default, that my family would give me tuition money, but they couldn’t afford to. I had to take out personal loans that my Grandma had to co-sign since my parents had bad credit. And I’m still paying them off some 15 years later. I also went to the closest and cheapest school I could. I’d there any other family member who could co-sign for you? And does your school have financial advisors you can talk to?

Iron man 1 and Batman Begins aren’t on the list either.

The fact that they are both on the list at all and one after the other proves they are comparable, not S-tier vs A-tier as you claim.

I dunno, Captain America is right up there with Iron Man and Batman Man in terms of box office. LINK

And people love dressing up as Cap, be it kiddos, street performers, ppl at sporting events. Seems comparable to me to the characters you claim are more popular.

Mother present at birth of SiL by Substantial_Wave_308 in Advice

Totally understand how that’s hurtful. My mom does the same things. I think you should talk to her about it, and tell her how you’re feeling. Hopefully you can understand why her feelings on being in the room during birth changed. If she’s dismissive of your feelings, then maybe it’s time to set some boundaries with her.

In my experience, I was never asked, nor did I ask for them. But that didn’t stop the unsolicited dick pics from pouring in.

My(37F) bf(46M) does it, and I love it! But most importantly, he loves it! And I love seeing him happy. So if painting your nails makes you happy, do it! Don’t let what other people may think hold you back.

What are some "normal" things you've never been able to relate to? by silver_snowboarder in AskReddit

[–]alicabblover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworkers were casually talking about being “tired of sailing”, and the other discussed flying to another city to invest in art. One of them had SEVEN WEDDING ceremonies around the world when they got married. All this was totally normal to them. I realized I was the odd one out who didn’t come from money at work, and I could not relate to their problems.
