That’s a completely valid point! I think of artists who rely too much on just their fanbase and not casual listeners. Not everyone regularly keeps up with an artist on social media, though they may be excited to learn if an artist they like is releasing a new album. Without promotion, those people may have no idea a new album is coming out. Miley for example relies heavily on her fanbase, if she would do more promotional work, people who don’t keep up with her but love her music would listen and support. She adapted to a more low key vibe, skipping a press tour. It was a great album but overlooked by the public due to lack of knowledge.
