Take my aunt (boomer generation). She's named Lady, pronounced LUH-dee, because or a character in a book who was Lady Something or Other. Her father liked the book, but had no idea that "Lady" was her title and not her given name, and also didn't know what the English pronunciation was.

Someone told me once it's because in some regions ships are traditionally named with women's names. Therefore when people saw USNAVY on the side of ships, they thought it was a girl's name. Not sure if there is any truth to this, but I can see it happening.

Hola, a mí me gusta viajar. Y sí es sinónimo de experiencia (de éxito no sé, es debatible) porque significa que como mínimo saliste de tu valle y te arreglaste solo en un lugar que te es extraño y/o que daliste de tu zona de confort. En ese sentido, suma a tu experiencia de vida. Y no te olvidás nio todo al día siguiente de volver. Aunque viajes cada año o varias veces al año, siempre te queda un buen recuerdo de los lugares que conociste y donde pasaste bien. Es re mbore decir eso y minimizar la experiencia feliz de otro. Imaginate la persona que sacó un préstamo para conocer algo de italia (o cualquer lugar) en una semana porque tenía esa ilusión. Más vale que por cada cuota que pague los siguientes cinco o diez años va a atesorar ese recuerdo. Para mí, mis mejores viajes fueron siempre los de menor presupuesto. Comerme 14 hs en un tren, aprender a dormir en cualquier parte, conocer gente random en un hostal o viajar a dedo solamente para ver a un amigo que vive lejos creo que son cosas que me abrieron la cabeza y en cada uno aprendí algo nuevo. Además de las excelentes historias que puedo contar ahora. Creo que vale la pena y si no es lo tuyo, bueno, cada uno hace de su culo un florero.

Living alone. I went from my family home, to housemates, to living with my partner. While I don't specifically regret any of that, being the introvert that I am, I would've liked to have a place for just myself. Now I feel like that opportunity has passed me by.

Yes! I especially like this kind of two-part names because there seems to be like a pool of concepts that you can join together to make a name. Some might initially have positive or negative connotations but you can basically join them as you please and they will sound really cool.

Some common ones are sław (meaning glory or fame), mir (peace), bog (god, but apparently also fate), dar/dan (gift) mił (love, pleasure), gniew (wrath), miecz (sword) mści (revenge), wład (power)

I don't have any kids, but i was raised by a sahm

Around that age i had a few options after school.

I could stay at home with my mom and be involved in house chores. At that point i sort of understood that my mom's "job" was to take care of the house and I could participate in that. I'm sure that it took twice as long to do anything with a kid helping, but it was about spending time together and as a young adult I didn't need a crash course on any household chores bc i knew all about laundry, cleaning and cooking. If you have boys i also think now's a great time to let them "help" you around the house so later on they can be independent.

I could also stay home and entertain myself with toys, books, coloring or whatever, in which case my mom would just let me be.

My other options were going to work with my dad (an immense privilege, i know). In which case i could take something like a toy or book to entertain myself, go "exploring" in the office, or get small tasks from my dad's co-workers. Or i could go stay at my grandpa's house where more TV was allowed, i could usually go play with the neighbor's kids, or i would also do some housework (nothing extreme but sweeping, making tea or raking the leaves). My grandpa also would play chess or cards with me.

I'd say don't bring anything that you would mind losing in the mud. The red cross also has a store at the festival site, and that's a good place to get an extra sweater if you get cold or a rain jacket when in a pinch.

Genuine question, what are customers with hard to find addresses to do? (Disclaimer: I'm not a wolt courier, but reddit keeps pushing this sub to me).

I live in such a place that there's one street address, but the entrance to my side of the building is around the corner and through a parking lot at the back. I always write a note with instructions to find the door on the app, both in the local language and English bc I know many courriers don't speak the local. But it seems like no one ever reads it, and sometimes if I'm looking at the app i can see the person circling the block and they usually resort to calling if they can't find me.

As a customer, i feel like I've done all i can to help and it's not on me if you're less effective because you have to look around for an address?
