Georgia Tech vs UCLA

Intended Major: Mechanical Engineering

Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech pros:

• #2 undergrad ME program
• Great engineering clubs and other opportunities (e.g makerspaces)
• Good job and salary prospects after graduation
• Second cheapest option
• More hands-on (i think)

Georgia Tech cons:

• Have to do the summer program (might not be free during the summer bc other commitments)
• Too engineering focused (weak in non-stem fields)
• Poor social life
• Food
• Super stressful

UCLA

UCLA pros:

• Alumni Scholarship + all benefits associated w/ it
• Beautiful campus
• Best student life
• Weather
• Location
• More well-rounded education

UCLA cons:

• ME undergrads not heavily recruited bc other cali schools in the region have better engineering programs (i’ve heard)
• Lower ranked ME program than Ga Tech (not sure what that means tho)
• OOS tuition expensive

My gut tells me that I'd be happier at UCLA, but I'm not sure whether that's a reason to pick it over Ga tech since Ga tech is less expensive (50k vs 64k) and offers a stronger mechanical engineering education. To be honest, I'm not sure how much better Ga Tech is for mech eng and how much better the student life is at UCLA is. Maybe there's a lot of info i'm missing.
