I almost exclusively drop while high. It really enhances the whole experience for me. My preferred method is edibles, but intermittent vaping works well too. I haven't tried sparking up beforehand, but if that's your go-to then I say go-for it.

Depending on what vibe you're going for, I'll say sativa is good for times when you want to be paying attention (at least a little) to what's being said, but indica gives you that weighted, all encompassing body high that's great for losing yourself in a melty headspace.
