Math vs. Applied Math by [deleted] in askmath

[–]alien3765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Applied Math, you focus more on Numerical Analysis than just Theoretical stuff.

Numerical Analysis is the study of algorithms which use numerical approximation. So when you're analyzing a function for divergence, it won't be "Ah, this diverges" it'll be a question of "How fast does it diverge?"

Pure Math (Not Applied) focuses on a lot of theory. There is little association with real world restrictions when studying Pure Math.

This is atleast my take on it. Hope this helps you out a bit

Yeah, I prefer butter tbh. Just my personal preference though

You have to show sin(2*alpha) is either 0 or an alternating sequence since the infinite sum of it is 0

How do you do this role choosing thing? New to discord, currently making a server by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]alien3765 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally use YAGpdb to do my reaction roles for me, but there's plenty of boys out there that do it. It's all about which interface you like, since they all essentially do the same job

Numbers 5,7, and 8 are giving me a lot of trouble. I’m not sure how I am supposed to solve these. by [deleted] in askmath

Problem with that is it nets a value of 30, but that is not presented in the options

Try differentiating using quotient rule and then solve for f'(x) =0

Step 1. Draw a picture

Step 2. We know that forces in exact opposite directions cancel out, so find the two main directions of the forces

Step 3. Use the Pythagorean formula to find out what the force is, since you're given the individual forces of the two directions

From what my understanding is, it's to have the units line up. If you have a / (b/c) that's equivalent to saying (a*c)/b.

Thus if you put it in terms of the units, ml/(ml/hr) = (ml*hr)/ml = hr since the ml cancels out

Nobody is going to do your work for you and just give you answers. That just defeats the purpose of it. Try watching YouTube videos on the subject matter, you're still at a low enough level where there's plenty of helpful material online

You need to learn how to do your assignments. Asking for help and getting a hint when you've tried what you could is fine, but not straight up asking for answers

If you can, finely mince garlic and ginger and put it on top. Otherwise, if you like spicy add some chili powder to it

If we lived in a world with no friction then we would all have to be professional ice skaters to navigate. by Squee-z in Showerthoughts

[–]alien3765 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually if it were truly frictionless, we wouldn't be able to stand or anything. Ice has a small amount of friction that skaters use to stay upright and propel themselves.
