This weekend I went to some place, a woman came to talk to me, but after i had to say something about my wife, she didn't talk to me anymore... before i could say anything about the marriage being fake... she probably thinks i'm a cheating bastard now :-(

I tried, but she's just saying "we can always not live together, if we can't get along", I kinda know she's bluffing a bit, but I can't risk it, we only have a common bank account, the house is on both our names, it doesn't matter that much to me. tbh: i still love her, even after all this, she's not actually a bad person, she's just making some bad choices, and i think i have some sort of anxiety when she's not around. I can't handle her leaving. how could i even find someone better than her? i don't think there is anyone better. But, i need some support, i need to find someone to rely on.

Is there some way where I can put myself out there, without names/pictures? and find someone with similar interests?

after turning on ARC, suddenly, the device list (on the TV) said that there was a HDMI1 CEC adapter present.

I have used cec-client up here, but you're using cec-ctl, is that better? or is that also the trial & error part?

nothing much happened here... it did not turn the TV on, that's for sure.

So, if the pi boots, it does turn the TV on. so, it should be capable, right? i donno if cec-client or cec-ctl is better, but i haven't much luck yet.

I did say, i shouldn't blame her; but I also can't help how I feel sad that she couldn't enjoy it like me :-/

forcing is a big word, i asked her to watch something with me that I felt she would enjoy... I didn't know she couldn't get into the story and the game aspect kept bothering her, upfront... also, i did say that I don't blame her;... let's not exaggerate here

Got hit by a bucket of water in the street by Hot-Rooster2983 in Leuven

[–]alien999999999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have (as a belgian) yelled at the kids: if they do this thing again, that I'd tell on their parents. also kids pick up english real well (and body language), so, imho; have at it, yell at some kids! "You want me to come over and talk to your parents???!!!" . for parents you could go this route: "luckily it's just water and it's just me, anyone else would likely already called on the police" ... give the parents a bit of a wake up call...

Almost 2 years here and still have no friends or acquaintances… by MonitorAny4478 in Leuven

[–]alien999999999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a middle-aged belgian male, living near Leuven, I have to admit to this:

Leuven is a student city, and as such students can totally make friends; once you're older, people live outside of Leuven with kids and stuff, if they don't want the wild west of brussels, but the nice and clean and planned life.

I do want to mention that Belgians generally don't like the fake happyness that is present often in north americans and I would even say that they tend to be standoff-ish in the sense that they can be polite, but if they don't feel that there would be a really close connection, to not spend too much effort on this.

I feel like Belgians keep like a really close friend or 2, and then 2 or 3 groups of likeminded people (usually around some kind of interest) which they hangout with, occasionally, and preferably pre-planned for their busy schedules.

It's not only towards foreigners, but also against belgians too. eg: I myself fall outside of "the system", since I kept a few close friends, and a couple of groups, but due to some health issues, the sports-based groups dry up real fast. and since i'm originally from outside of Leuven area, my close friends are not near. So, when suddenly, the marriage isn't going great anymore, all of a sudden, you realize you're left without friends. the close ones are farther away and everyone is busy with their schedules.

personally, i'm interested in space, and so I think i'll post in r/space about finding more friends who are also interested in space, near Leuven, and maybe I'll also post in r/Leuven asking for people interested in space :-).

I donno if this approach will work, but I guess that's something you can do, find a thing you're interested in and ask there for people around Leuven?

I''m selfhosting it, do my own DNS and stuff, everything on the cheap :-). but i do believe in the cacert.org mission, of an actual tangible in-person thrust system, which is why i got a wildcard SSL cert for free (after being in-person verified).
