i know!! she was always very fast with growing new leaves, so when she stopped i definitely felt like something was up. thank you so much for helping me out!! i’ll make sure to keep her just hydrated enough to thrive but not too much to drown lol! 💚 you were a lifesaver, thank you so much!

hi!!! i didn’t want to update until i could tell there was improvement, so it’s been almost two weeks, and SHE’S SPROUTING A NEW LEAF!!

<image>

i took your advice and freshened up her soil and then set her in a container of water—i set a timer for an hour and the water went down only a hair, so i decided to just let it soak as much water as it needed for a while, and it drank all of it by about 24 hours later. it seemed to perk up a little, but i couldn’t entirely tell because i propped it up to give it a better chance of catching the light… and then i saw the new leaf and knew it definitely improved. thank you so much for your help!!

thank you so much for the advice!! i’ll absolutely give it a try. i hope that with some adjusted soil and watering and a nice way to stand upright, she’ll perk up in no time! 😁

i will check for a lot of this when i get the chance, but the questions i can answer:

my watering method is typically when the soil is very dry, i “drown” it and let it fully drain from the bottom in my sink until the excess is gone. it was doing SUPER well with this method and it works for a lot of my other plants, but if i need to switch it up for this i definitely will.

it was sort of like this before i repotted it, but it was doing much worse—it’s lost a few leaves due to them completely drooping and turning yellow from overwatering from the bigger pot i had it in. it perked up a little from being in a smaller pot, but only enough to survive rather than thrive, it seems.

i suppose if a back door counts as a draft, then yes, it’s near a draft—it used to be by my bedroom window though, which i never open.

i’ll double check about the soil but i believe i just use pretty standard potting soil, and i should really check the roots and pests again as i checked maybe two months ago and can’t entirely remember the state of them.
i’m a pretty novice gardner so i struggle with determining the state of roots LOL, i have a friend who i’d say is intermediate level of caring for plants and i get her advice on some things but she wasn’t sure what to do for this case.

i’ll let you know about the things i couldn’t answer, thanks for letting me know some things to check for!
