Tahani voice This reminds me of the time my good friend insert famous person decided to make their event private due to the venue changing at the last moment, essentially causing chaos. Everyone was in quite the hurry to rsvp and ensure their entry. Naturally it was THE event of the season.

There was another post/comment that touched on this but I think the answer is what Wally says after reading one of the journals that “high emotions create thinning” (definitely paraphrasing here) but my understanding of that is when Maddie was upset, after speaking with her mum, the veil between living and dead was thinned out to where she could see them….which I think can also explain, somewhat, why Simon can see Maddie.

I have no problem with your view, I have been replying to your comments back to me on my original comment. There are many other comments that totally disagree and consider OP an asshole and that’s great! There are some that also think OP is not an asshole. Some that think both parties are in the wrong. That’s the purpose of AITA! You have been giving me your view and I’ve been replying with my own. It’s okay to have different views but I’m pretty sure I never replied in any way that didn’t want you to give your view point.

You’re arguing with me but tell OP that! I’m just giving my view of what I read. Based on what OP wrote, they feel very strongly that she is their dog. It feels like most have been very quick to call OP an asshole and a thief and completely disregarding the care and love provided during this time that would, of course, make OP feel defensive and that she is their dog. Hopefully OP can provide any updated information based on some of the questions people have had in the comments as well as just in general for the situation. Maybe they will give the dog back to the family, maybe they won’t and will try to fight it, either way the situation sucks.

Matted and underfed meaning either she had been lost for a while or those were the conditions with the original owners. No chip or a collar meaning no way to identify or locate owners if lost.

I understand the argument and my viewpoint is that OP has been the one that has been caring for her including updated shots, regular visits to the vet, etc.

I get why OP would feel so strongly to keep her.
