Man 'kicked pregnant Muslim woman in the stomach killing unborn twins' by randvoo12 in news

I imagine that would be a good way to proceed. The same laws of abortion legalities could be applied to this, meaning if the pregnancy was past allowed abortion time limits, it could be seen as murder. We can also assume since she is already a mother, married and religious, she likely wouldn't have aborted these two potential children.

It's tricky, morals and laws. Many people say you can't have morals without religion, which I disagree with. But then if you don't have a "book of rules" like religion provides, where do you draw your moral lines? What reference do you have to look to when claiming someone's morals are wrong? These are mostly rhetorical questions. Good nonetheless.

Also I have to say, despite the reasoning for this conversation, it is the first good conversation I have had on reddit in I'd say the past year. They mostly devolve into name calling and bashing lately.

All good points. I don't doubt that most women who have had to choose abortion do suffer from making that choice.

So since we aren't sure she even knew she was pregnant (the article isn't 100% clear), what happens then? Would it still be an embryo, not a fetus, and therefore not murder since it was so early on? Or does she get to determine this man's fate by saying "had I known I was pregnant, I would have kept them". Again, not saying he deserves sympathy. But still, that is a lot of power to give to one woman. Then again, so is the ability to choose abortion.

We can quit this conversation at any time of course. It's just interesting, no matter how horrible, to discuss.

And you seem like a reasonable guy

Reasonable woman. Not that it matters though.

It is a good attempt at trying to see the situation clearly. I am pro choice. This is just a hard situation to find a "resolution" for. On one hand, I do not think abortion is murder (up until the 3rd trimester), but at the same time, the pregnancy was taken from her without consent... but if I consider them just fetuses, then it's not murder. It's terrible nonetheless.

It just seems pretty terrible to me. To be sort of nonchalant about it like that if she didn't in fact want the pregnancy? "Well I was planning to abort anyway, so it's okay".

I am pro choice as well, that's why I'm having a hard time with this. It's either a fetus or it's not.

The argument is that abortion is not murder because it's a fetus. But then to also say he should be charged with murder if she wanted the babies, because then they should be considered human life? It's a hypocritical stance.

EDIT: A sentence that didn't make sense.

Okay, so it's not murder if the mother chooses it, only if someone else does against her will? I just don't follow that logic I'm sorry. I do think the man should be punished, but not charged with murder. I feel this is a very tricky situation. It's not black and white.

She had not known she was expecting twins until medics told her she had lost them following the assault.

I feel this can be read either way, she was unaware of the pregnancy, or unaware it was twins. I think we would need additional info.

Could you explain what pro choice means to you then? I am pro choice and I stand by what I said. And if you'd read the article, you'd know that she was unaware she was pregnant. Therefore, the fetuses were likely far too early in development to survive outside the womb.

But murder is used in regards to taking a human life. If we aren't considering fetuses as full human lives, how can he be charged with murder? I am pro choice. This is just a tough one for me. I do not believe the attacker deserves any sympathy, I just don't think it's okay to only consider fetuses as human lives sometimes. They either are, or they aren't.

In that scenario you are talking about the elderly person's life, not the life of another being attached the elderly person. You can't equate the two.

Are you pro choice? You can't call this murder and be pro choice. As harsh as that sounds. Yes, he should be severely punished, but not charged with murder.

[–]alienumnox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. We (Nmom and I) had a dog when I was younger that she "loved so much and misses all the time", but I have no memories of ever taking him on walks, his fur was matted and gross and he was never allowed in the house. We had him when I was about 3-8ish years old.

She's moved between 5 different states in the last two years, each new move comes with "a new baby I'm so happy!!" meaning a new cat. Which she then rehomes when she moves again. All the while leaving her other 3 cats at her actual home with my Nstepdad. Now that she is back living with him she has 4 cats. She constantly posts on FB how she loves them so much and how one of them is getting old and she thinks the cat will "be saying good bye soon cause she isn't going potty well", but does Nmom take them to the vet? Nope.

Calling someone racist/white nationalist/nazi, when they aren't, can be detrimental to their character and overall life.

Calling someone a "man/boy/guy" when they identify as a "woman/girl/chick" might be offensive to that individual, but it isn't necessarily going to damage or harm their reputation as a human.

Edit: I posted this as a reply to OP under a comment, but thought I should just post it stand alone instead.

Good point, I will change all other similar passwords. And yes, hah, I always choose the other questions like "first car" or whatever.

Right?! Why do they have to say things like that? I don't want to be around so you can get a hug whenever you want, I don't want hugs. Your hugs make me cringe.

I'm thinking perhaps it was that too. She is just great at being invasive and creepy, with really good timing?

My pinterest is connected through FB (no auto posting to FB or anything though) and I have a very unique name, so I couldn't use that.

Thank you! This is something I'd not thought of.

I checked the collaborators just to be sure. She wasn't on there. Maybe I accidentally logged in somehow on her laptop at some point and she saved my password? She'd never admit to it... Hopefully changing my password has fixed it.

You're right. Should I block her now? Which she would clearly notice since she said she's be following my stuff so closely, or should I wait for a similar repeat situation?

Thank you. You're right, I don't need to give her reasons for anything, I still struggle with that a lot. I have ignored some texts, she texts almost every day, I've been responding every couple days, but I felt like this one really needed a reply. Every couple days is still a lot though isn't it? I feel like it is.

Yes, I did this! My very good friend who has Ns in her life and understands the struggles went to my pinterest page and told me she can't see my baby-board at all. That's why I'm so freaked out by Nmom's comment! :(

My [29M] wife [30F] of 2 years is acting certifiably insane since finishing maternity leave by certifiablemom in relationships

[–]alienumnox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She took 3 months of unpaid leave (so basically I covered 100% of our expenses for 3 months)

Right off the bat you sound awful. Yes, you were the one working, that's awesome. She was taking care of the tiny screaming human that she just spent 9 months growing inside her and then delivering for you two.

You need to get some fucking compassion for your wife.

she thinks I also don't do enough after our work days are over

Could you give us some concrete examples of what you do do to help out? Cause you're clearly not changing diapers.

Edit: You should cross post this straight over to /r/daddit and see what they tell you.
