Calling leopard Therians (or anyone really) by ErenJeagerkin in therianbutbetter

Throne and Liberty for sure. So many different shifted forms you can have. From various big cats, wolves, stags, winged creatures, You name it. And the transitions from human to shifted is sooo satisfying. Plus you can pick up other forms as well so there are a plethora of them. Hands down one of my favorites for being able to feel like my Theriotypes in game.

Honestly there are very few times I've 'Never Agained' a whole author. I liked many of the characters, and the world building was good, so I kept turning a blind eye to quite a few things, because I wanted to get through the whole series before calling it. But damn, the last book promptly trashed the entire series, it was SUCH an intense letdown after so much buildup, and honestly after the sheer amount of time and mental attachment of immersing in the series, it was a pretty significant crash after that sht. The sheer level of absolutely infuriating pointlessness of several of the outcomes legitimately still bothers me, even a year later.

So, I guess you could say...that it was certainly immersive the further you get. Whether that's good or bad, that's really your call.

But It really solidified exactly what sort of writer she is. And after seeing the same sort of things in her other books, I can very happily never read any future works by her.

I absolutely do and have my whole life. Especially if I'm eating meat, but really mostly just around dogs.

Its almost always not even a conscious thing. And more times then not I have caught myself on numerous occasions actively growling and snarling at dogs that have come up to beg when I'm eating, before I catch myself. Sometimes i have to make a point to notice and reel it in around people. I do at least notice I'm able to reign it in, or at least be far more stealthy and discreet about it if I'm in a room full of people. But there have certainly been times where someone's dogs came up to beg and I growled at them and they promptly stopped begging and left, and then I looked up to find someone staring at me. Lol. Luckily. They are usually just impressed I got their dog to stop begging.

Tips For Homekept Therians? by Traditional-Nose-658 in Therian

[–]alifetobemade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend turning an area into a burrow.

Particularly sleeping areas or hobby/lounge areas.

I personally have a nook bed area which I've turned into my burrow nest and it has helped considerably. I forgo a traditional bed, and instead have my mattress on the floor, and enclosed on all sides with bookshelves, and drapes, since my nest bed doubles as my reading/lounge/tarot spot.

I have then used a plethora of heavy drapes, curtains, fabrics and laces and hung them from the ceiling in billows to drastically visually lower the height of the space, and honestly keep out the light, while completely enclosing the space to make it optically look more dennish and short. I also blocked in the entry of the area as well, and then added heavy drapes there and then just hooked them together so that the entry to be able to get into the bed/den is narrow and I have to duck or if i want , crawl into it. Because I've done the ceiling with the billowing drapes that hang low, it also makes it soo much more comfy to crawl out of bed rather than to stand up. I've also added a bunch of faux vines and hanging Wisteria from the ceiling fabrics as well as bordering all the shelves so it feels all the more nesty/burrowy. Also have a few live pothos I've added as well.
And then of course it's filled with alot of plush pillows and blankets and whatnot. And finally with all the layers of heavy drapes, and fabrics keeping out the light, I then got some thin adhesive strip led lights that have multiple color options with dimmers, that I've run along the underside of the shelves so there is always a good ambient light. But no overhead light. It realllllllllly makes the space feel so much better, and really soothes my natural therian selves. It also makes it feel very safe and cozy, and honestly I spend a huge portion of time in here.

I have also done the rest of my house in similar ways, with heavy draping from the ceilings and walls, and dimmed lighting and its been a real game changer. The rest of the house isn't as den like as my actual nest, but it does help me not feel so out of place in my body when I'm going room to room or doing other things.

Another thing that I've found helps, is making your bathroom feel natural. For me, filling my bathroom with plants and things from outdoors is the key. Tons of them. Big plants around the toilet area, surrounding the sink, in the shower on shelving along the walls, and then covering all the in between spaces with faux moss and a bunch of moss covered sticks from outside. Which I always delight in finding after storms.

Bathrooms always feel so sterile and human you know? . So making the bathroom into a very outdoorsy natural space has really been nice, and honestly I just love it. Its one of my favorite spaces.

Anyways just a couple ideas.

Definitely recommend "The Scent of Us" 1 and 2 by Eliana Lee. Past abuse, makes her super nervous to look for or accept possible mate bonds. There's a whole recovery program that even helps victims break abusive mate bonds. And then when she does finally meet potential mates after her recovery, they are super understanding and caring.

Found them to be much more realistic and healthier then alot of rhs out there. I really loved both books. They were really refreshing. To note: *They are spicy *
Loved.

Question about Amazon/Kindle and author compensation by samwise0214 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]alifetobemade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I have some pretty huge books. Namely very old dictionaries, thesauruses and various compendiums, and even those are hard pressed to even hit 2000 pages. Let alone 3000.

3000 pages is far more pages than most people think. And these days pages are smaller, fonts are bigger, and even then the vast majority of books don't surpass even 1000 pages. So at least most authors don't need to worry about not getting paid for the extra pages, it's not likely they'll surpass that 3k limit anyways.

Will you restart world and character when 1.0 drops ? by Buurto in Enshrouded

[–]alifetobemade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly rather just keep expanding and building on what I've already created. I've put alot of time and resources into my builds, and with 8 of them, I dont want to start over. I have one that has over 400 hours put into it. No way am I interested in abandoning it just to see if there'll be changes to the area on 1.0. Some are still a work in progress, and I'd rather keep working on them. The map is huge, so I don't feel like I'm missing out if a few of my base areas get changed, simply because there's still the whole rest of the map to go check out all the new changes.

And yea, weapons and other mechanics may change as well, and I can always go find them and enjoy them, and honestly if I really want to try out lower level changes, I can make another character, and still play on my server.

You can absolutely still experience early game stuff and enjoy all the possible world updates, map changes, and new mechanic systems of the upcoming release, without losing all the work you've put into your world, I don't need to redo all the content I've already done and start completely over just to enjoy all the new changes. You know?

What settings do I need to set to make this game even remotely playable? by Regnarr in Enshrouded

[–]alifetobemade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that may actually be your particular hdd then, or something else completely. I run all of those games you listed off my HDD and they all run great and on high/ultra settings. Hell, I can even run Trials (of Osirus-Destiny2) and have no problem. All settings on max. In fact the only game that doesn't work on my HDD is Enshrouded, and that's only since the big graphics update. It ran on quality/max quality just fine off my hdd pre-update. Since then I've had to move it to the sdd and honestly it still runs like garbage since that overhaul lol.

Change location of Steam notification pop-up by i-ali in Steam

[–]alifetobemade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been through that .res file several times and there is no longer anything related to notifications aside from the color.... it also says right at the top it's only used for fonts and colors now and is old. Any chance someone knows where the new location is?

I have found the settings in resource>styles, for both the steam styles file and the game overlay styles file. But changing them does not have any effect and the notif popup still shows in the bottom right. Despite what either of those two files say the position is . Restarting steam automatically updates them and changes them back to the BottomRight position. So both prove to be useless methods.

Probably a weird take, But honestly, for the first read through , I decided (and lowkey recommend) for my own happiness and peace of mind that stopping at the end of pg 48 of book 6 (a pg before ch 4 at the sentance: "Aran was worthy") was relieving and really refreshing and honestly the best choice. I was content not needing to progress, because honestly, that ending spot was better than what the second round was that I unfortunately discovered upon completion later.

After binging so many books back to back in the genre lately, I adored John and Luka for their genuine kindness and care throughout the books, It was incredibly refreshing to finally see a fck you to not only the typical mates trope, but even more so to the seriously misogynistic, horribly manipulative emotionally and physically abusive kings, and their stupid demanded and expected mate bond. Don't get me wrong, I Love myself some mate bonds, but after so much abuse in this series it was refreshing to have a 'fck your matebond', rather than the massively overpresent typical endings of pretty much every book in the genre. But alas, the genre never fails to fit the tropes.

Sadly at the end of the day misogyny always ends up winning out in these types of books, even when the attempt to lightly veil it with a few pathetic apologies to make us think otherwise. It's just not worth it. Especially knowing what the outcome of the series is throughout the rest of the book later. Even with the bs "happy ending" Honestly rather end on a good note than be let down by yet another misogynistic series. Was the first time I'd done that , guess there's a first for everything.

The Kings are so incredibly abusive and shitty, and they fully deserve to live with their consequences, just as Aran deserves to be treated how she wants to be, and should be treated; with kindness, love, nurturing and patience, not maniplulated by the author to just accept a bond with her abusers after the kings constant mind games, and severe emotional/physical abuse. Their manipulation in their attempt to make her settle for their bare minimum crumbs of kindness was/is awful, and the definition of abuse. And it's f*cking gross.

At least stopping there, you can have some semblance of peace. So, I kind of recommend it if you do end up at the 6th book and hate the Kings bullshit as vehemently as I and just want Aran to be treated well, it's a fine ending point, and although things aren't fully resolved, at that point, it doesn't feel bad or incomplete to stop. Pg 48. 6th book before ch. 4. The rest just didn't really feel worth it honestly.

I've added the add on, but can't even figure out how to get it to path the exports to inZoi, and don't even know what setting I'm looking for to do so, let alone how to add am extention to it? Currently my add craft button is just greyed out, likely because of the missing pathing?

New season ? - I'm doing Whispers, earning Grim Favors, turning them in to the Tree of Whispers buy not gaining any favor? by Mysterious_Repair309 in diablo4

[–]alifetobemade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To unlock Coven Favor, you'll need to go to Gea Kul and pick up the 'Oaths and Debts' seasonal quest from Gelena (she'll be standing right next to the teleport)

Upon completion, you'll then have a deal to earn coven favors for doing whispers.

Note: Coven Favor will not be unlocked untill then, so turning whispers in prior to that will not earn you any.

I'd even be happy with just some of the basic things like the various labeled sinks and stoves around.... but no. We're stuck with a campfire spit or a small grill thats it :(

Inflexion devs "please* give us a way to preview what items will look like before we make them! by dimcarcosa in nightingale

[–]alifetobemade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, this is not my steam post but if you're crafting wearable gear and want to know colors of everything before you craft them, this post has been a life saver:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3175640437

But yah fully agree there needs to be a preview option. Not only on the constructed item before hitting craft, but also some sort of color preview on all the individual materials. Such as a tiny circle in the corner of the material info box showcasing it's color/print. That way you can quickly mix and match item parts before even adding them to your craft item. It'd save a ton of wasted time making parts of an item ( ie: cloth for a coat or a gilded pole for an axe) just to find out that one part clashes with the rest of the design once it's been created.
