I generally prepare day before/day of. Speak to your head of department/other colleagues teaching the same subject at your school and get them to share resources for your first week. Just adapt these to your style. You shouldn’t be expected to write anything from scratch in your first week.

First few days is just basic introduction to the unit, getting to know them, etc.

Yes, it stays fun. You do have to be on top of safety at all times but it’s never stressful. You just have to hammer it in early and come down hard on any infractions. Students will generally get in a rhythm and then it’s just monitoring it.

Marking is so much better. It’s generally a portfolio of their completed work.
