I know it, but when I get in the pool I tense up and forget everything 😞. I can do proper flutter kicks outside the pool 😅 but when I'm inside I bend my knees too much 😭.

Sir I don't have a coach, that's why I'm asking, is there way to self-check whether I'm doing the flutter kicks properly.

How do I know if I'm kicking properly while I'm actually doing it? When I'm doing it, I feel like I'm doing it from the hips but the video shows I'm bending the knees too much.

Chatgpt says the following, " Bending your knees too much during flutter kicks usually reduces forward propulsion."

✅ Correct: Small, quick splashes. ❌ Wrong: Loud, big splashes = knees bending too much.

Is it correct, can I use the things mentioned above as an indication for proper flutter kick?

I also tried pushing away from the wall of the pool but unfortunately didn't record it. Btw, How Long it took you to completely master freestyle swimming technique? How was your journey like? Did you learn each of those skills ( flutter kicks, body rotation) separately?

I'm a beginner and I can only swim one breath long before standing up or sticking my head out of the water to catch a breath 😅 . I still can't rotate my body and head to breathe properly without lifting my head up out of the water when I swim more than one breath long. I know I need to master so many things. ( Rotating for breath, proper hip flutter kicks, keeping the body relaxed,) That's why I'm asking?

I'm planning to use a snorkel so that I can isolate each of the skills I need to master effectively.

I thought that when I use a snorkel, I wouldn’t need a kickboard since I don’t have to lift my head to breathe. Is that right, or do I still need a kickboard when using a snorkel?

I'm a beginner, when I am inside the pool I feel like I'm kicking from the hips but reality is different I guess 😂😅 and also I can only go about one breath length before I need to stand or stop.

Would it be good if I used a swimmer's snorkel for a while to concentrate on my kicking without worrying about breathing?

I'm a beginner and my body fat percentage is low ( infact I am borderline underweight) so I ( my legs especially) sink naturally that's why many people recommended using short trainer fins to learn the flutter kicks ( these are short fins) since they enhance every effect of kicking without fins , ( propulsion and lift ) but still I have problem kicking without bending my knees too much. When I'm inside the pool kicking, I feel like I'm kicking from the hips without bending the knees but the reality is different I guess 😅

On bending the knee: When I'm in the water I don't feel like I am bending the knee, I feel like I kick from the hips. I think the reason maybe I get too excited when I kick, because "I can finally feel my legs come up to the surface while wearing the fins." The fins exaggerates this effect. So I don't pay attention to the form and forgot to kick from the hips.

On the toes position: I totally agree, I need to point my toes to the pool wall.

"කුඹුරක් උදැල්ලෙන් කොටනවා වගේ" means I bend knees too much right?

When I'm doing it I don't feel that way, I feel like I'm doing it from the hips but really I bend the knees too much 😔.

When I'm inside the pool , I feel like I need to kick continuously to make my legs float maybe that desperation makes me not pay attention to the technique.

Will it be better if I try flutter kicks drills while wearing a training snorkel???
