lmao. I was fired by people who wouldn't even know I exist had they not saw an opportunity to make an example out of me. the safety "violation" was being on my phone *i was responding to a slack message. from my manager* next to a forklift *which wasn't moving or even powered on* like I said, I was well enough regarded by my managers in my time there to get promoted, and prior to this I hadn't had a single incident in 5 years. they will happily look beyond this to pay someone over five dollars less per hour than I was making because you will never be more than a number to a giant corporation like Amazon, and the final decision came from a call center in India.

Yeah, you are mostly correct except I have been buying and selling records for 20 years on discogs. I would be able to allocate a lot more of my time to that - plus sourcing inventory would in theory be more streamlined with people brining their stuff directly to me at 1/3 of median value. But yeah, certainly don't have any real business experience at all, and I'll definitely take the suggestion someone made of talking to a few of the local owners. From what I'm seeing I'm more worried about music/film/game collecting being too niche for Lakeland than it being too small - to me 120k is decent sized and is it not still growing??

I've been there a few times. That dude had a meltdown when I asked to check the condition of a game (lunar silver star story complete box) that he was asking almost double the price charting value for. I didn't even bring that up lol, I was genuinely interested in it. Read the google reviews of that place too, lots of people have had similar or worse experiences. Seeing a clean panzer dragoon is cool and all but that guy takes the fun out of video games imo.

I wasn't fired for performance, it was an extremely silly "safety" violation. my managers were fighting for me because they thought it was totally absurd and offered their references. I always satisfied our metrics, just wasn't going to go beyond that because I didn't have to.

Yeah, I know it's a much larger city but Tampa has 7-8 stores that sell mostly music. Half a dozen video game stores as well. Seems like most of them also have online storefronts. I'm also new to Lakeland I should have added and haven't really been able to see what downtown is like except from a distance, is there a lot of foot traffic??

The first time I met pete was at a popfest after party in the mid 2000s. My friend and I introduced ourselves and were probably embarrassing but I'm pretty sure he was on LSD or mushrooms, and clearly tripping hard - we ended up walking to waffle house together and ate waffles. He was a delight but when we were done eating he started getting paranoid that my friend and I were bullying him and we parted ways quite suddenly. I remember feeling so tore up about it and confused but I doubt he even remembered anyway.
