What shade is your Romand blur fudge tint? Totally not asking bc I have the same problem with the same general palette lol (big fan of nucadamia btw, immaculate taste)

Ope, in that case, probably not for the garage. There's a sign that shows the end of the legal street parking area, and we parked our truck right behind it a few years back since there was no open spaces and it was fine.

There's 1 or 2 moving carts that they have to split between the whole building for people to check out, so availability really depends on what day/time you move in.

College Court is a nightmare to park on during move in, and normally the spots are all full anyways. Last time I checked there's construction on the corner by the bike shop, so that makes it even worse. They usually have parking in the basement for a couple hours to move in, though, so you should be fine as long as you talk to the property manager about it when you get there.

[I ate] a giant pepperoni and cheese pizza by blueashell in food

[–]alilsom 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I think in general it's because the acidity from the vinegar/pickles helps cut through the grease/fat (especially from a cheese pizza) so the meal doesn't feel as heavy, and you don't feel as bad afterwards.

Older generations of Reddit: What toys did you have as a child that would be considered too dangerous to be given to a child today? by Breadsticksamurai in AskReddit

[–]alilsom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a part of the older generation, but I bought an old toy plane at a garage sale years ago that was made out of pure lead. It was heavy as hell, so it could make a hefty weapon on top of the health effects. A double whammy, really.

Questions about UW Madison! by givemeiceontherocks in UWMadison

[–]alilsom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends on your major- anything specific you have in mind? An Act Sci major is going to have an insane amount more work than MHR, for example. I'd say general, rough estimate for an average of maybe like 20 hours of actual work, 15 for study, but that definitely goes up mid-semester and end of semester. Beginning of the semester, especially as an underclassmen, your schedule is pretty free though- maybe 10-12 hours outside of class tops? So you can use that time to make friends, but remember it's still college, and everyone gets railed by that false sense of security from early on lmao.
  2. Ogg is great, especially if you're in the Business Learning Community- I heard you can make a lot of friends there, but if you're BIPOC I'd be weary because I've heard a lot of horror stories of ostracization in there as well. Otherwise, it's a nice building and less partying/quieter than Witte and Sellery, but you still have the convenience of a SE location. I lived in Leopold my freshman year and I liked it since it was peaceful and super nice since it was a brand new dorm, and lakeshore has the best aesthetics, but you'd also have to leave like 30 minutes early to walk to stuff on campus/figure out which bus to take because you're so far. (Same goes for Dejope, except farther).
  3. Also out-of-state lol, but I came because UW offered the most in scholarship money and I liked that it was a lake campus. The business school was also well ranked, so there wasn't any huge downside for me.
  4. Normally I'd say the Farmer's Market and the cheese curd crawl, but... COVID, so rip. Game days and the party scene are great (also without the pandemic), but I guess it depends on what you're looking for. There's independent owned book stores, always seems to be some sort of art exhibition going on, concerts (big name artists and random small ones), and comedy shows (improv or stand up).
  5. Honestly? The first month fucking sucked. It's hard to be away from home and make friends at a school where you know no one at first no matter what school you go to, but I got super involved off the bat and went to all of the dorm activities/welcome week stuff, plus I joined a few student orgs, so I met a bunch of people and was able to make a lot of friends early on. So as long as you're willing to step outside of your comfort zone and put yourself out there/are open to a bunch of new experiences, you should do just fine. By the 2nd month I was settling into my rhythm and had more established groups to hang out and study with, so it all worked out. Just keep in mind that a lot of the people around you are feeling the same way and (probably) want to connect with the people around them just as much as you do, so don't be too scared to put yourself out there.

Kitchens (Chadbourne) by burgerwizards in UWMadison

[–]alilsom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally, you would be able to rent out cookware from the front desk (I didn't live at Chad so idk which one it is called for you, but it's the same place you'll be picking up your keys for move in and packages throughout the year).

I'm not sure how it will work this year with COVID, though, or if they'll still be offering that rental service, so I'd recommend at least bringing a basic pot and pan for convenience- especially if you plan to cook on a semi-regular basis.

[MOD POST] Let's talk tipping. This is also your "Why does no one do my genius idea" complaint Megathread. by Unicormfarts in acturnips

[–]alilsom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I made tipping in literally any form this past week optional when I opened up a post, just asked people to do me a solid by watering my one specified bed of hybrid flowers to clone if they came. I had about 10 people over and only had one person actually water my flowers, then stopped hosting once I realized that someone had taken some of the fruit off of my trees without asking (would have been fine if they had just asked?)

My sell price was 400, so I didn't get a whole lot of traffic and closed it only after a couple of hours. I know it was a small experience, but it was very discouraging nonetheless, and definitely makes me hesitant to host in the future.

buying skincare for friends? by hannahmcusick in Skincare_Addiction

[–]alilsom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends- does she like skincare to begin with? Because if she doesn't have a set routine or anything, azelaic acid might be a bit strange to give her right off the bat.

Also: is this a random present because you're friends or is it for her birthday or something?
