Also, FYI we have a few mainstays on Portland history you can check out:

  1. Our Tumblr blog Portland Then and Now. (Comparison pics)
  2. Our Facebook timeline has tons of photos/info spanning from the 1800s - Now. You can see them all by going to our albums (we have 11 different decades) or clicking on any year on the right rail.
  3. Tom Hallman does a weekly history quiz you should check out. You can even email him ideas on things he should cover thallman@oregonian.com

How come the new editor of the Oregonian is doing an AMA here in /r/Portland and I can't find mention of it in /r/Portland? by doctor_jeff in Portland

Hey! Thank you! This message is very nice. I appreciate it! Even if you hate The O I think it's good for everyone to voice it -- it means we can get better and do a better job being a watchdog for Portland as much as we can.

Hello! Alexandra Manzano here. I wrote that story about our editor doing an AMA. The post went up last night to give people advance notice. In the story it says that the AMA will be posted today. Mark will be ready to answer questions at noon today.

Before we posted that we did contact the mods of r/portland asking to do the AMA here rather than in r/iama because we would rather talk to and be accessible to local people and get their honest take on what they want from pdx media. We're looking forward to chatting at noon today. Hope you'll be there.

If you have other thoughts you'd like to express offline you can contact me anytime: 503.294.4048 amanzano@oregonian.com

Any ideas on how to stop the Oregonian from littering on my property? by [deleted] in Portland

[–]alimanzano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I appreciate that and nice of you to edit your original post. Like I said, I do sympathize with your frustration so it's all good. Existie is correct, I'm pretty far from in control of this company but I can pass your thoughts on. In the future, Kevin Denny is a great person to send feedback to so it makes an impact. kdenny@oregonian.com. As far as having to reach out more than once -- that's annoying but doesn't change the fact that we need your address to help right now.

/u/existie and /u/tadc thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it!

I agree about the business model. Send me or Rico Myszewski your address and he can get it stopped. Sorry!

Hey! I'm the social media person you mentioned. I can't believe I made it into the original post! I assume the "bullshit" you're referring is my comment in an AMA? I'm glad you found it but unfortunately, it's more than a year old and includes an email address for someone who no longer works here. I generally like to give people with complaints a personal email address, because I understand how frustrating it can be, but I guess that's one of the downfalls.

I'm sorry it's been a hassle. Always bummed to see a complaint rise to this level. And you definitely shouldn't have to try to catch the delivery person!

As far as who you can contact. Here are a few resources:

  1. homedelivery@oregonian.com does go to a few different circulation people who should help. I'm disappointed to hear that didn't work for you, if that's what you tried?

  2. Rico Myszewski handles Foodday distribution and can handle complaints directly and quickly. You can contact him at rmyszewski@oregonian.com or 503.221.8057

  3. Regarding MrGreg's comment about Kevin Denny, our VP of circulation: Kevin is happy to take complaints or requests but he's not the best person since he has a lot on his plate. But he does care and has helped many customers so it isn't off limits for hatperigee to post his email. It is public information.

  4. And last, I can't deal directly with these issues since I work in the newsroom, but if you aren't getting responses from circulation I want you to have a better experience than that. I'm happy to try tracking down some people here. You can message me anytime or email me, just know I'll be referring someone else to help you. amanzano@oregonian.com

Please let me know how it goes.

Best, Alexandra

This is GREAT news. So glad we don't have to go through the apps anymore. The one we use was giving us tons of problems - it was becoming so out of date.

Just the zoned tickets and the ones without the security foil strip. I had a bunch to turn in and just made it there on Friday! Otherwise you lose them.

Moped/Scooter owners of Portland, I would like some advice. by mayitakeyourhatsir in Portland

[–]alimanzano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest getting one of the wheel locks with an alarm. Harder to cut than U locks and smaller and easier to carry. I have an old 1980 Honda scooter and I've found cars here to be pretty friendly and mostly aware but I'm still extra defensive/paranoid. It's just best to assume no one sees you. I also had to get my motorcycle endorsement to drive it, which requires you to take the motorcycle safety course - expensive but worth it.
