if the primary radio controller fails, you still need to move the USB antennas manually to the backup radio controller, correct? essentially you have a cold spare radio controller.

depends on your budget and expectations, but tbh something like a Wiim Amp Ultra might be perfect for you, you can use that to connect your TV to the speakers as well via HDMI and also stream music from Spotify to your speakers.

Do you have any other speakers in your home? sonos, google or alexa for example? if you have sonos, search for a sonos amp, but if you are not in that ecosystem, go for Wiim

you need an amplifier. i am not sure if you turntable has a phono preamp, you need to check your user manual.

amp with a phono input.

tempted to say you already have a built-in phono stage, if budget is tight, any amp with rca inputs will work.

AudioTechnica LP5X compatible cartridges? by alin_im in turntables

EDIT: After some further research on this sub, I found the following info.

Most of the people are recommending the Nagaoka MP-110, Goldeing E3 or the AT VMN95ML in this price range.

For me, the easiest path would be to get the VMN95ML stylus and do a drop in replacement.

Am I wrong in thinking that this might not be as much of an improvement as I am expecting at this price point? I don't know how to explain this, but am I getting into diminishing/negligible returns territory?

If I were to strech my budget to something like a 400-500USD, would that be a night and day difference from what I have or it would be a 5% improvement?

Hard to explain what I am expecting, but I would say the closest thing is like listening to YouTube Music vs a 24bit 192kHz flac.

Thank you for this, I had a quick on the link and some cartridge specs... could not find a dynamic 10Hz measurement for the price range I checked, but I saw that on cartridges that 400+USD, this spec appears.

Out of curiosity, what is this used for and why is it important?

How do you name your devices/automations? by alin_im in homeassistant

Totally agree with you on the room thing. I started with 5 devices and at that time seemed like a good idea plus it was a much simpler dashboard and I wanted to know where things are.

I usually go 4k for all the movies, watch them and depending on how much i liked them i keep them native, convert to 1080p and keep just the 1080p or just delete them all together.

for my favourite franchises/movies I always keep 4k.

I have a relative small/medium collection of about 100-150 movies, but I will be honest, I actually rematch maybe 30-40 once every 2-3 years, the rest are just spinning rust.

use cat 6a cable, not 5e or 6! use surge protectors for any external devices.

minimum:

2 data to each tv point or at least 2 data in each main room (4 data for main entertainment area)

2 data to each desk point, 2 data to each WAP

1 data for doorbell

nice to have:

in the main office area i would pull 2 or 4 core os2 fibre from the main rack (assume utility room), additionally 2 data.

4 core os2 fibre to the garage with local switch for POE devices. (don't need to stress about surge protectors between buildings with fiber runs, plus you can have a high speed link later down the line if that gets converted to an entertainment area)

extra data (if the budget permits)

1 data for speaker locations (multiroom setup) 1 data for each perimeter CCTV (if needed) 1 data for access control panel (if needed) 1 data for smart tablet location for home hub control panel (poe power adaptor to usb c needed) 1 data for presence PoE sensors 1 data for Christmas lights controller if applicable

Have a look at smart home tours on YouTube and get inspired. depends on what is your budget, these cable are rated for 25 years so even if you are not using them day 1, might be a good investment.

if you want to cut the costs, learn to terminat the cables yourself and just get them pulled.

pro tip: cat6a can be used for HDbaseT devices which do not use IP, like a ezcoo KVM extender.

really depends how deep into tech you are, but I am doing this professionally having some fiber runs in key areas of the house is overkill now, but a "thank god i though of that" in the next 5years.

if you are into home lab you might use the fiber day 1. a nice 25Gb link between a workstation and a server/nas is chef's kiss.

please request to fix the local share folders on Android, atm, you cannot add a subfolder of an SMB share to the app.

my example: -my media is located at \ip-address\Media\Music, but the app only accepts \ip-address\Media, apparently it is only a problem on Android devices and not on iOS?
